A busi-<lb />ness man may be public spirited<lb />and progressive and may open<lb />up channels of industry by which<lb />hundreds of idle loafers: are<lb />given employment, and because)<lb />he neglects to do something which<lb />somebody who never did any-<lb />thing for themselves or anybody<lb />else thinks ought to have been<lb />done, by this unfortunate class<lb />with which every community is<lb /><lb />duty. Soitis ten hogsheads of<lb />tobaceo may be shipped to other<lb />markets, nine of which may sell<lb />for less money than they sold for<lb />at home and the tenth probably<lb />pay a profit of ten or twenty dol-<lb />lars and you will hear much more<lb />about the one that paid the profit<lb />than you will the nme that made<lb />a loss. °<lb /><lb />We have noticed it time and<lb />again, a man is not half so anxious<lb />to let 1t be known that. he has<lb />lost money by shipping as he is<lb />to tell about the smali profits he<lb />makes, otwithstanding the fact<lb /><lb />~he 18 encomraging that which is<lb /><lb />in diréct opposition to his best<lb />interests.
