C., SEPTEMBER 12, 1895.<lb /><lb />No. 238¢,<lb /><lb />Local Trains and Boat Schedule.<lb /><lb />train yoing<lb /><lb />Passenger and mail<lb />Going South,<lb /><lb />north, arrives 8:22 A. M.<lb />arrives 6:37 P. M.<lb /><lb />North Bound Freight, arrives 9:50 A<lb />M, leaves 10:10 A. M.<lb /><lb />South Bound Freight, arrives 2:00 P.<lb />M., leaves 2:15 P.M.<lb /><lb />Steamer Myers arrives from Wash<lb />ington Monday, Wednesday and Friday<lb />leaves for Washington Tuesday, Thurs<lb />day and Saturdav.<lb /><lb />Weather Bulletin.<lb />Generaliy fair Friday, cooler in<lb />northeast portion Friday morn-<lb />ing.<lb /><lb />SOME SHOP TALE.<lb /><lb />If compliments and words of<lb />kindness would buy type, ink and<lb />paper and pay printers the ReE-<lb />FLECTOR could cut shines that are<lb />entirely beyond its reach just<lb />now. While words of cheer will<lb />not accomplish these things, still<lb />they are appreciated and inspire<lb />us to higher efforts, forthey show<lb />there are those who take notice of<lb />what we endeavor to do and are<lb />willing to accord praise for what<lb />they see is being accomplished.<lb />A compliment that carries with it<lb />the most practical suggestion of<lb />any yet'réceived came in a letter<lb />from another Siate wherein the<lb />writer, who was seeking informa-<lb />tion about establishing an enter-<lb />prise here, said, o1 belieye in<lb />Greenville, and I heard a business<lb />man who reads the Daity REFLEC-<lb />TOR say the people of Greenville<lb />ought to give you acheck for<lb />$3,000 forthe benetit the paper<lb />had béeen.to the place. so you<lb />could entarge it and goon with<lb />the good work.<lb /><lb />Now, doesnTt that have a busi-<lb />ness sound? - Indeed it dows, and<lb />if the suggestion happens to be a<lb />oceatching ~one and anybody<lb />gets a check drawing notion they<lb />can find this office open from 7<lb />&. m.to 9 p-. m.<lb /><lb />But levity aside, the REFLECTOR<lb />asks and expects no contributions<lb />and our purpose in pablishing<lb />the above is to show that the pa-<lb />per is attracting attention to<lb />Greenyille;.and people abroad are<lb /><lb />recognizing that this town has a<lb />good thing in the REFLECTOR.<lb />However, we would like for our<lb />home people todo this much;<lb />We would like for them to give<lb />the DaiLy REFLEcToR enough pat-<lb />ronage to enable us to double its<lb />size aud make some other con-<lb />templated improvements. Such<lb />a step would show the outside<lb />world that you haye faith in your<lb />town and appreciate what the<lb />paper is doing for its advance-<lb />ment<lb /><lb />We can make no complaint<lb /><lb />jabout the patronage given our<lb /><lb />weekly, that speaks for itself, but<lb />the daily ought to be larger, yet<lb />it will take more patronage to<lb />make it so. There is no question<lb />about a daily paper doing a town<lb />many times more good than a<lb />weekly paper can do. A good<lb />daily in which the business of the<lb />cOmmunity is properly presented<lb />gives the town a standing and<lb />reputation that cannot be given<lb />through a weekly paper. A paper<lb />may print page after page setting<lb />forth the adyantages ofa town,<lb />but unless its coluums show that<lb />itis backed up by the business<lb />commumty the best results aim-<lb />ed at are lost.<lb /><lb />This is written in the hope that<lb />the business men of Greenville<lb />will view the matter in such a<lb />light as to insure us their co-op-<lb />eration in making the DaiLy RE-<lb />FLECiOR such a paper as the town<lb />should have. When the town is<lb />benefitted every business and<lb />every individual in it receives a<lb />share of the benefit.<lb /><lb />A second Child Dead.<lb /><lb />We are again called on to<lb />chronicle the death of a child of<lb />Mr. Thomas McGee, of Mt. There are<lb />4,131 whites and 2,077 colorad.<lb /><lb />Mr. C. W. Hoover, of Barringer<lb />township, reports that he killed a<lb />few days ago, 38 snakes at one<lb />lick. He thonght that there was<lb />only one"a copper head"when<lb />he began business, but when he<lb />struck the blow 37 little fellows<lb />showed up "Statesville Land-<lb /><lb />mark.<lb /><lb />A white man and a negro had<lb />a fuss at the bar room near the<lb />depot Wednesday evening.
