Practically the last ves.<lb />tige of old sto. ks of wrappers has<lb />disappeared, double old cutters<lb />are hard to find, smokers are al-"<lb />most equally 80, while the big<lb />accumulation of old stocks of<lb />fillers have gradually disappeared<lb />until there are uot five hundred<lb />hogsheads to be found, hanting<lb />every nook and corner in the<lb />market. In fact the position ino<lb />working stocks is stronger than<lb />at anv time for the past five years.<lb />Already manufacturers are mak<lb />ing inquiries for the ~94 stocks,<lb />und dealers have disposed of<lb /><lb />-_ liberal quantities of their not over<lb /><lb />large stocks.<lb /><lb />Business haying been so unset-<lb />tled for the past twelve months,<lb />speculators have been wary of<lb />buying anything that they could<lb />not find immediate sale for. In<lb />consequence of this, speculators<lb />touched working stock very light.<lb />Hence it will take no very large<lb />demand to clean up the 94 stock<lb />of these goods that are in the<lb />hands of epeculators." Danville<lb />Journal.<lb /><lb />W.1L Pender and VD. D. Over-<lb />ton had a five mile bicycle race<lb />Thursday. Pender made the dis<lb />tance in 14} minutes and Over-<lb />ton in 143 minutes.<lb /><lb />~the warehouses.<lb /><lb />IT CAME TO-DAY.<lb /><lb />~The Hundred Thousand Mark Passed.<lb /><lb />Fridays have developed into<lb />record breakers for the Green-<lb />ville tobacco market. Every day<lb />during theis week the sales were<lb />good, averaging about 20,000<lb />pounds per day the first four days,<lb />but the quantity that came in to<lb />day wasa surprise to everybody.<lb />Just think of it! there were 125,-<lb />000 pourds of tobacco brought<lb />to Greenville. Our people never<lb />saw the like before, and it looked<lb /><lb />Winking---B<lb />Buying "_<lb />FALL & WINTER.<lb /><lb />GOODS,<lb /><lb />almost like a circus day around<lb /><lb />Tobacco began coming in by<lb />day break, and when the sales<lb />started at 10o0Tclock there were<lb />rows of wagons around every<lb />warehouse waiting to get in.<lb />There was more toboccu by fully<lb />20,000 pounds than could get on<lb />the warehouse floors and it had<lb />to be stored away in the prize<lb />houses.<lb /><lb />The Star opened the breaks<lb />with 25,000 pounds apd _ fairly<lb />made the price hom. It sold<lb />away up yonder, and the sellers<lb />were never better pleased.<lb /><lb />Ola Forbes rang his new beli<lb />for the second sale at the Plant-<lb />ers, and made the nice lay out of<lb />28,000 pounds for the buyers to<lb />bid on. It was fine, too, and he<lb />spurred them on to the very top<lb />notch.<lb /><lb />When they struck the Eastern<lb />there was such a sea of tobacco<lb />that the boys said they had to<lb />stuy themselves up with some<lb />dinner before tackling it. This<lb />excellent house just broke the<lb />record of the Greenville market.<lb />There were 700 piles on the floor<lb />which aggregated 50,000 pounds,<lb />and twenty loads more had to be<lb />stored. When a 60 feet addition<lb />was recently made to the length<lb />of this house sometody wanted<lb />to know if they ever expected to<lb />fillup so much room. But to<lb />day showed. The floor was full.<lb /><lb />the drive way was full, and even<lb />thep more room was needed.<lb />much tobacco going there is suf<lb />ficient proof that prices at the<lb /><lb />The King<lb /><lb />¢<lb /><lb />Wait for Me.<lb />FRANK WILSON,<lb /><lb />Clothier.<lb /><lb />The Greenville had the closing<lb />sale with 16,000 pounds. Leon<lb />Evans says that while he has not!<lb />got the largest house and cannot<lb /><lb />get quite so many pounds on his<lb />floor as the others, he would like<lb />to see anybody seli for higher<lb />prices than he does. And right<lb /><lb />then the oparson spoke a para-<lb />ble.<lb /><lb />Another great thing about this<lb /><lb />big break is the prices at which<lb />tobacco sold. The REFLEcToR<lb />took particular pains to go among<lb />the farmers on eyery floor and<lb />ask him about prices. Not a dis-<lb />satisfied man was found on the<lb />wholebreak. On the contrary we<lb />received such answer» as these :<lb />o~Never saw prices higher oIt is<lb />selling better than I ever knew.<lb />oBetter prices were neyer had in<lb />Greenville than to-day. oI am<lb />delighted with my prices"could<lb />not ask for better There were<lb />many other similar expressions.<lb />Please the sellers and everybody<lb />else is pleased.<lb /><lb />Like we have said before, just<lb /><lb />So| watch Greenville"she is going |<lb /><lb />above 5,000,000 pounds this sea"<lb /><lb />rn are all right.<lb /><lb />"""<lb /><lb />A Big DouTt.<lb />DonTt dodge a bicycle rider.<lb />Stand still and the cider will ges<lb />along all right.
