But it<lb /><lb />- demonstrates that not much has<lb /><lb />changed in American culture<lb />with respect to Black-White<lb />relations, especially when it<lb />comes to Whites accusing<lb />Blacks. In short, the case of the<lb />Long Beach Ten is nothing short<lb />of the 21st century incamation<lb />of the Scottsboro Nine.<lb /><lb />It was March 25, 1931, some<lb />75 years ago. Interestingly, it<lb />marked nearly the halfway point<lb />between the present day and<lb />the formal end of slavery. One<lb /><lb />encyclopedia relates what<lb /><lb />" happened on that eventful day.<lb /><lb /> oThe caseof the Scottsboro<lb />Boys arose in Scottsboro,<lb />Alabama during the 1930s,<lb />when nine black youths ranging<lb />in age from thirteen to nineteen,<lb />were accused of raping two<lb />white women, one of whom<lb />would later recant. Despite all<lb />the fanfare, the 83-year old<lb /><lb />Ludlum made it clear that he has<lb /><lb />the greatest respect for the<lb /><lb />legendary fighter pilots. f.<lb /><lb />Although the historical accuracy<lb />of the Tuskegee Airmen is being<lb />challenged, respect, and honor<lb />for America Ts first military<lb /><lb />- airmen most likely will never<lb /><lb />wane anytime soon, history<lb /><lb />- buffs contend.
