Worrill<lb /><lb />In the process of building the Repa-<lb />rations Movement, itis crucial to take<lb />note of an important aspect. of our<lb />work that Brother Chinweizu pointed<lb />out in a paper read at the second ple-<lb />nary session of the First Pan African<lb />Conference on Reparations, held in<lb />Abuja, Nigeria, on April 27, 1993.<lb />Chinweizu observed that one of the<lb />most important aspects of the Repa-<lb />rations Movement ois our self-repair,<lb />the change it will bring about in our<lb />understanding of our destiny, the<lb />change it will bring about in the<lb />world. ?<lb /><lb />-Chinweizu further observes in his<lb />paper, oSo, reparations, like charity,<lb />must begin with ourselves, with the<lb />making of the new Black person, with<lb />the making of a new Black world. ?<lb /><lb />With this in mind, in our work in<lb />the Reparations Movement, we must<lb />direct our attention to our external<lb />demands at the same time we work<lb />on our intemal repair. We must do<lb />both at the same time. .<lb /><lb />It is especially obvious that at this<lb />time of the year millions of African<lb />people get caught up in the European<lb />holiday season by participating in<lb />helping the European economic order<lb />remain strong. by purchasing their<lb />products promoted in the name of the<lb />holiday season. Let us reflect for a<lb /><lb />- moment on this problem.<lb />©. Since being captured from Africa<lb />and introduced into the United States<lb /><lb />of the world Ts greatest tragedies. This<lb /><lb />is the tragedy of being completely<lb />taken over by the Euro-ethnic order<lb /><lb />of America, in almost every area of<lb />our lives, at the detriment of our own<lb /><lb />self-interest. This tragedy manifests<lb /><lb />itself today most vividly in the area of<lb />economic development in the A frican-<lb /><lb />in-America Community.<lb /><lb />If you observe the African Com-<lb />munity in America throughout the<lb />United States today, you will observe<lb />that we do not control the economics<lb />of our own communities. We have<lb />allowed other ethnic groups to become<lb /><lb />" the major benefactor of the economies<lb /><lb />of our communities, This problem has<lb />major impact on many of the prob-<lb />lems we face, such as: the African<lb />Family Crisis, African on African<lb />(Black on Black) crime, drug and al-<lb />cohol abuse, teenage pregnancy, HIV<lb />and AIDS, cultural domination, edu-<lb />cational genocide, and lack of real po-<lb />litical power, et al.<lb /><lb />All African people in America<lb />need to stop and think for a minute<lb />and ask the question, why do we so<lb />easily and willingly spend our money<lb />with other people and these same<lb />people do not spend their money with<lb />us? In fact, the White community will<lb />not even allow African-in- American<lb />businesses and cntcrpriscs, for the<lb />most part, to open in their communi-<lb />ties.<lb /><lb />One of the most devastating out-<lb />comes of this capturing process of<lb />African people in America is the fact<lb /><lb /> that too often we look to other people<lb /><lb />as-a people will not fundamentally<lb />change until we decide to make these<lb />changes and correct the habits that<lb />keep us in an oppressive state. Con-<lb />tinuing to spend our money with other<lb />people at the expense of ourown com-<lb />munities will continue to keep us in a<lb />state of begging other people to do for<lb />us what we should do for ourselves.<lb />In America. most ethnic groups<lb />tend to have control of items they<lb /><lb />consume as part of their cultural heri-<lb /><lb />tage and characteristics. For ex-<lb />ample, the Chinese dominate the rice<lb /><lb />industry and the Greeks dominate the<lb />fruit and vegetable industry. African<lb />people cat greens as a part of our<lb />regular cultural eating habits, but we<lb />do not control greens. Just think, if<lb /><lb /> we controlled the production, pro-<lb /><lb />cessing, wholesaling, retailing and<lb />distribution of greens in America, we<lb />would considerably advance our own<lb />economic situation.<lb /><lb />During this season of super pro-<lb />paganda and economic rip-offs, let us<lb />recommit ourselves to at least become<lb />apartof the MATAH Network, which<lb /><lb />is the only African owned and con-<lb />trolled channel df distribution featur-<lb />ing hundreds of Black manufactured<lb />products.<lb /><lb />Let us stop the cycle of economic<lb />dependence and struggle harder to<lb />build the Reparations Movement. -<lb /><lb />(Dr. Worrill is the National Chair-<lb />man of the National Black United "<lb />Front/NBUF located at 12817 S.<lb /><lb />Ashland Ave., Fl. 1, Calumet Park, IL<lb /><lb />60827, 708-389-9929, Fax: 708-839-<lb />9819, Email: nbufchi@allways.net,<lb /><lb />Web site: nbufront.org.)<lb /><lb />as property and commodity, aver four<lb />-_, hundred years ago, African peoplein~ ~ solving them<lb />America have become subjects ofone " crystabelear that the problems we face<lb />Biographical Outline of<lb />Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.<lb /><lb />Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a vital figure of the modern era. <lb />ae nenenige sm me<lb /><lb />January 2004<lb /><lb />This is a new year and many of<lb />us have made New Years<lb />resolutions that we know that we<lb />can not keep. What I want. to<lb />know is have you made<lb />resolutions concerning your soul.<lb />This is the hour that God has<lb />prepared for you to walk into<lb />your season, many of you have<lb />sown and sown and sown and<lb />now I hear the Spirit saying this<lb />is your time to walk into your<lb />season. You will reap the<lb />harvest if you faint not. The wait<lb />is over, just know that you are<lb />more than a conquer and walk<lb />into your season.<lb /><lb />As we go forth in the New Year<lb />we need to be prepared to fight<lb />the enemy of our souls by<lb />putting on the whole armor of<lb />God. Let us examine God's dress<lb />code. In the book of Ephesians<lb />6: 13-18 we: find this description<lb />of God's soldier.Wherefore take<lb />unto you the whole armour of<lb />God, that ye may be able to<lb />withstand. in the evil day, and<lb />having done all, to stand. Stand<lb /><lb />' therefore, having your loins girt<lb /><lb />about with truth, and having on<lb />the breastplate of righteousness;<lb />And your feet shod with the<lb />preparation of the gospel of<lb />peace; Above all, taking the<lb />shield of faith, wherewith ye<lb />shall be able to quench all the<lb />fiery darts of the wicked. And<lb />take the helmet of salvation, and<lb />the sword of the Spirit, which is<lb />the word of God: Praying<lb />always with all prayer and<lb />supplication in the Spirit, and "<lb />watching thereunto with all<lb /><lb />(From the s pee<lb /><lb />I id tea<lb /><lb />Page [2<lb /><lb />Spiritual |<lb /><lb />Re<lb /><lb />pebseverance and sapplestion 7<lb /><lb />for all saints;<lb /><lb />If we take the.time to learn whet<lb /><lb />the Lord is telling us we will live<lb />a victorious year.<lb /><lb />There will come a time in this:<lb /><lb />Christian walk that you will<lb />come to the end of your natural<lb />strength and when that |<lb /><lb />Paul tell you to STAND not only<lb />does he. tell you.to stand but he<lb />tells you how to stand. First, he<lb />tells you to girt your loins with<lb />the belt of truth. Truth is the part<lb />of the armour that holds up<lb /><lb />righteousness. Jesus said I am |<lb /><lb />the way the truth and the life.<lb />Know the truth and the truth will<lb />make you free. In your loins are<lb />your reproduction organs and the<lb />devil desire to kill out your<lb />ministry by causing you to walk<lb />in deception. Secondly, he tells<lb />you to put on the breastplate of<lb /><lb />Tighteousness. The kingdom of<lb /><lb />God is not meat and drink, bit<lb />this is righteousness, peace and<lb />joy in the Holy Ghost, . The<lb />breastplate is a vital part of the<lb />armour it protects the organs that<lb />sustain life (the. organs .. that<lb />pumps the blood, filters T the<lb />blood and produce the blood,<lb />heart, lungs and liver). Thirdly,<lb /><lb />he tells you to shod your feet .<lb /><lb />with the preparation T: of T the<lb />gospel of peace. The Bible says<lb />follow peace with all men and<lb />holiness without no man shall<lb />see the Lord. Walk in the peace<lb />of God and that peace will<lb />sanctify you wholly. Fourth; he<lb /><lb />tells you: to take the shield of<lb /><lb />faith that you. will beable to<lb />quench all the fiery darts val the<lb /><lb />wicked. i takes faith to fight a<lb />spiritual warfare. Your Very<lb /><lb />salvation is based on faith, it Ts by<lb /><lb />grace through faith that you are ;<lb /><lb />saved. Fifth, he tells you to take<lb />the helmet of salvation. . The<lb /><lb />helmet protects another vital.<lb /><lb />organ of the body, the brain. The<lb />brain gives you the ability to:<lb /><lb />reason with God, to meditate on ~ E<lb /><lb />Him, to commune with Him and<lb />to just think on Him. If you.<lb />damage the brain this will affect<lb /><lb />the éntire body. Sixth, he tells ?<lb /><lb />you to take the sword of the T?"?<lb /><lb />Spirit which is the word of God. o<lb /><lb />The word of God is quick and<lb /><lb />powerful sharper than any two<lb /><lb />edged sword. Rememiber this is<lb />not a battle against flesh and<lb />blood, it is spiritual and you must<lb />defeat the enemy of your soul<lb />with the word of God. Seventh,<lb />he tells you to pray always in the<lb />Holy Ghost. Praying in the Holy<lb />Ghost is your secret weapon<lb />because it is the Spirit that makes<lb />intercession when we don't<lb />know what to pray. Praying in<lb />the Spirit also builds up your:<lb />spiritual man, ©<lb /><lb />' Let us dress for the anny of God.<lb /><lb />In 2004, be a brave and<lb />courageous soldier that God ¢an<lb />use. This year expect to fight the<lb />good fight of faith; don't give up<lb />whatever you do. If you need<lb />prayer come to the church or call<lb />and we will pray with you that<lb />you may gain strength to: fight.<lb />HAVE A BLESSED NEW<lb />YEAR AND DRESS FOR<lb />SUCCESS.<lb /><lb />Subscie T Te<lb /><lb />2000 CHEVY BLAZER<lb />#PRZSEA, AT, CD, 4d, PL, PW.
