<lb />4 2th Annual Stellar Awards??? saw<lb />a steady parade of electrifying<lb /><lb />fusical performances and emo-<lb /><lb />ionally riveting acceptance<lb />speeches from winners. Moreover,<lb />for the first time, the Stellar<lb />Awards expanded musically to in-<lb />clude jazz and hip hop artists in<lb />performance. Add it all up, the<lb />??o12th Annual Stellar Awards??? was<lb />perhaps the most memorable in<lb />the history of the show. Viewers<lb />can see all of the excitement when<lb />the ??o12th Annual Stellar Awards???<lb />is broadcast nationwide from Janu-<lb />ary 18th through February 23rd.<lb /><lb />As always, the ??o12th Annual<lb />Stellar Awards??? was executive pro-<lb />duced by Don Jackson, and dis-<lb />tributed by Central City Produc-<lb /><lb />tions. Among the highlights of this<lb />annual tribute to Dr. Martin<lb />Luther King, Jr., and Black His-<lb />tory Month, Kirk Franklin swept<lb />all five of the categories in which<lb />he was nominated, including Song<lb />of the Year, Contemporary Album<lb />of the Year, and Producer of the<lb />Year. In Franklin??Ts dynamicshow-<lb />opener, he was joined on stage by<lb /><lb />the husband-and-wife Gospel rap<lb /><lb />team of A-] S.W.LF.T. and God??Ts<lb />Property (Get On The Bus<lb />Soundtrack) in a sensational per-<lb />formance. He followed this with<lb />an emotional award acceptance<lb />speech, in which he thanked God<lb />for his miraculous survival of a<lb />catastrophic fall last November,<lb />bringing the entire house ??~to<lb />stunned silence and tears. Later,<lb />the Gospel dream team of Shirley<lb />Caesar, Yolanda Adams, and<lb />Dottie Peoples brought the house<lb />down with their high-spirited<lb />musical tribute to Gospel legend<lb />Bobby Jones, who received the<lb />prestigious James Cleveland<lb />Award.<lb /><lb />_ PASE Annuat stellar Awards??? bring a night of historic firsts for the<lb />w se and rap artists joining the best of gospel in an evening of non-stop celebration<lb /><lb />Allen, Angela Christie, Ben Tan-<lb />kard and Tim Bowman took the<lb />stage for an unforgettable en-<lb />semble performance. James Weldon Johnson, the composer of this song, was widely known as a man<lb />of rare talent and devotion to his people. During his life, he was a teacher, poet, author,<lb />government official, and civil rights leader.<lb />Johnson was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on June 17, 1871. He was the second of three<lb />children. His father was a head waiter from Virginia, and his mother was born in the Bahamas.<lb />She received an education in New York. She had once taught at the city??Ts largest elementary<lb />school for Blacks. Johnson??Ts mother was a great influence on his later interests in music and<lb />reading. She taught in the segregated Stanton school, which Johnson attended through the eighth<lb />grade. Since there were no high schools for Blacks in Jacksonville, his parents sent him to high<lb /><lb />school in Atlanta, Georgia.<lb /><lb />As a student at Atlanta University, Johnson wrote over 30 poems. In 1894, he received a<lb />bachelor??Ts degree and was chosen to give the graduation speech. He returned to Jacksonville and<lb />became principal of the Stanton Elementary school. While teaching, Johnson also studied law and<lb />became the first Black lawyer in the state of Florida. In 1895, he started the first Black daily<lb />newspaper in the United States, The Daily American.<lb /><lb />Johnson??Ts writings became popular with Blacks in America. In 1900, he wrote the famous<lb />Black national anthem, ??oLift Every Voice And Sing,??? which gave praise to Black hope, strength,<lb />and religious faith. In 1902, he wrote the song ??oUnder the Bamboo Tree,??? which sold more than<lb />400,000 copies. He and his brother John, a talented composer, wrote over 200 songs for Broadway<lb />musicals, including ??oThe Sleeping Beauty??? and ??oHumpty Dumpty.???<lb /><lb />Johnson was a U.S. ambassador to the countries of Venezuela in 1906, Nicaragua 1909, and<lb />the Azores in 1912. That same year, he wrote his only novel, The Autobiography of an Ex<lb />Coloured Man. In 1916, Johnson joined the NAACP as National Field Secretary and worked there<lb />for almost 15 years. In 1920, he traveled to Haiti to investigate the charge that U.S. troops were<lb />abusing Haitian Black citizens. Upon learning the truth of the charges, he presented the shocking<lb /><lb />facts to the U.S. Congress.<lb /><lb />Johnson spent two years in Washington, D.C., trying to pass a law to stop lynchings in the<lb />United States. Although he failed to get the law passed, he did show the American public the<lb />terror that Blacks were living under. Johnson??Ts work with the NAACP helped it to become the<lb />strongest civil rights organization in the United States. He later retired from the NAACP and<lb />taught at Fisk University, in Tennessee. He spoke at colleges and universities and began writing<lb />again. In 1933, Johnson published his popular autobiography, Along This Way.<lb /><lb />On June 26, 1938, a car that Johnson was riding in was struck by a train during a heavy<lb />rainstorm in Wiscasset, Maine. His Harlem, New York funeral was attended by more than 2,000<lb />moumers. He was buried in Brooklyn, New York, wearing his lounging robe and holding a copy<lb />of his favorite book of poems, God's Trombones.<lb /><lb />During his life, James Weldon Johnson received many honors, including honorary doctorate<lb />degrees, and the NAACP Spingam Medal for Outstanding Achievement. Johnson always believed<lb />that the future held great opportunities for Black Americans. Marcus<lb />Garvey was such a person. He wanted to change the way his people were being treated. He also felt that<lb />Blacks should take a greater command of their destiny.<lb /><lb />Marcus Mosiah Garvey was born on August 17, 1887, in St. Ann??Ts Bay, Jamaica, the youngest of<lb />eleven children. His mother and father were of pure African heritage. At an early age, Marcus learned to<lb />take pride in his race. He attended elementary school in St. Ann??Ts Bay.<lb /><lb />Marcus was a very bright student and could speak very well. He was an excellent reader who tried to<lb />read every book he could find. He would often read the dictionary to increase his word knowledge and<lb />reading skills. But, at age 14, Marcus had to quit school and go to work to help support his family.<lb /><lb />Garvey became a printer??Ts helper in Kingston, Jamaica. In this newspaper job, he learned many skills<lb />that would be useful to him later. In 1910, he went to Central and South America in search of better jobs.<lb />In each city he visited, it disgusted him to see the prejudice aimed against his people.<lb /><lb />In 1912, he went to London, England and studied at Birkbeck College. There he met African<lb />students for the first time. Because of his new friends, he became interested in African independence. He<lb />then began to write for the Africa Times and Orient Review. Upon reading Booker T. Washington??Ts book,<lb />Up From Slarvery, he was deeply moved by Washington??Ts teachings of Black self-improvement.<lb /><lb />In 1914, Garvey retumed to Jamaica, convinced that Blacks must find ways to help themselves. So,<lb />he and a small group of friends founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). The<lb />UNIA promoted racial unity through education, racial pride, business development, and trade with<lb />Africa.<lb /><lb />In 1916, wanting to start a trade school, Garvey came to the United States seeking the support of<lb />Booker T. Washington. Yet, Washington died before Garvey??Ts arrival. Within two months, Garvey had<lb />recruited nearly 2,000 members in the UNIA organization. He traveled throughout the United States<lb />preaching racial pride and independence.<lb /><lb />Within five years, more than one million Blacks had joined the UNIA. The UNIA had chapters in<lb />every major city, the West Indies, Central America, and South America. In 1918, to further spread his<lb />teachings, Garvey began to publish the Negro World, which became a leading weekly newspaper.<lb /><lb />In 1919, Garvey started the Black Star Ship Line, consisting of three steamships. His Negro<lb />Factories Corporation provided loans and help to Blacks seeking to start their own businesses. He sold<lb />stock to Blacks at $5.00 a share to finance the ship line, restaurants, a chain of grocery stores, and a<lb />publishing house.<lb /><lb />In 1922, however, the UNIA fell upon hard times, and Garvey was falsely arrested and convicted for<lb />mail fraud. After many appeals in the courts and receiving support from many friends, Garvey began<lb />serving his jail sentence in 1925. In 1927, his five year prison sentence was suspended, and President<lb />Coolidge ordered Garvey to return to Jamaica.<lb /><lb />In 1940, Marcus Garvey died in London at the age of 52. He was survived by his second wife and<lb />two sons. We can remember Garvey best for his great ability to organize the masses of Blacks. He would<lb />often state, ??oUp you mighty race, you can accomplish what you will.???<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />Office: (919) 758-0311 Pager (919) 754-4012 Office 919:321.0736 Pager 919-551-1128 | Office: (919) 758-0311 Pager (919) 754-4012<lb />Office 9197580311 Home 919.752.9955<lb />==<lb />All-American Bail Bonding Company | ALL AMERICAN BAIL BONDING COMPANY ALLAMEDICAN BAL BONDING COMPANY<lb />Saying Ot han Service Offering 24 Hour Service<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /></p>

The Non-Vola-<lb />tile Audio is not included in<lb />Endecs for Radio and TV. The<lb />NV audio??Ts purpose it to notify<lb />cable-TV viewers what channel<lb />ontheir system serves their area.<lb />Any audio stored in NV will al-<lb />ways be aired with all types of<lb />alerts.<lb /><lb />The Endec has an internal<lb />safety valve in the form of a<lb />??oWatchdog Timer???. If the Endec<lb />is not at the main opening menu<lb />every 10 minutes it will self-<lb />reboot. This will prevent it from<lb />being in a locked-up state and<lb />missing alerts for several days in<lb />the rack before someone notices<lb />it. The length of the ??oWatchdog<lb />Timer??T is 10 minutes by default.<lb /><lb />The Endec handles alerts<lb />based on Incoming filters. Sec-<lb />tion 5.4 in the manual discusses<lb />incoming filters.<lb /><lb />The factory default has 4 in-<lb />coming filters to handle received<lb />alerts.<lb /><lb />1. Required EAN; set to auto-<lb />matically relay the president, im-<lb />mediately upon receipt. 2. Re-<lb />quired RMT; set to hold the<lb />monthly test for 5 minutes then<lb />relay it or the user can relay it<lb />before time-out.<lb /><lb />3. Required RWT; set to only<lb />log a received required weekly<lb />test.<lb /><lb />4, Others; set to ignore all<lb /><lb />_ events after 10 minute time-out<lb />or user can relay before time-<lb />out. Deleting the ??oOthers??? filter<lb />will cause your decoder to not<lb />receive any event other than<lb />those that are contained in dif-<lb /><lb />ferent filters. It is strongly rec-<lb />ommended that you do not de-<lb />lete the ??oOthers??? filter. You may<lb /><lb />build new incoming filters to<lb />handle specific events for your<lb />area in a specific manner.<lb /><lb />More information is available<lb />on our Web Page; http://<lb />www.broadcast.harris.com/sage/<lb />|_index. html<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />AAAAAA AAAS A A A AoA AoaD oD Dad<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />Men's &amp; Ladies<lb />Fashionable<lb />Jackets<lb /><lb />somg?s<lb /><lb />3/ 4 Leather<lb />With Hood<lb /><lb />Up To 3X<lb /><lb />S99???<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />Full Length<lb />Leather Coats<lb /><lb />sgg???<lb />??~125???<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />pe ee ??"<lb /><lb />mee Gye ae Oe oe ge Cle a ig<lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb /><lb />RAMADA INN<lb /><lb />203 W.
