COX<lb /><lb />Col. William H. Cox accepts command<lb />of the 99th logistics group at Nellis Air<lb />Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada<lb /><lb />Colonel William H. Cox was<lb />born November 7, 1948 in<lb />Farmville. He graduated from<lb />H.B. Suggs High School,<lb />Farmville, in 1967 and from<lb />North Carolina A&amp;T State Uni-<lb />versity in 1971 with a Bachelor<lb />of Science Degree in Business<lb />Administration and Accounting.<lb />Col. Cox received a Master of<lb />Science Degree in Procurement<lb />Management from Webster Uni-<lb />versity, Missouriin 1981. Heisa<lb />graduate of Squadron Officers<lb />School, Air Command and Staff<lb />College and Air War College.<lb /><lb />Following commissioning in<lb />1973, Col. Cox was assigned to<lb />the 704th Tactical Air Support<lb />Squadron, Shaw AFB, South<lb />Carolina, where he served as<lb />Supply Operations Officer. In<lb />1975, he graduated from Muni-<lb />tions Supply School and served<lb />as Munitions Accountable Sup-<lb /><lb />ply Officer for the 8th Tactical<lb />Fighter Wing at Kunsan AB,<lb />Korea.<lb /><lb />In 1976, he was assigned tothe<lb />632d Radar Squadron, Roanoke<lb />Rapids AFS, North Carolina,<lb />where he served as Squadron<lb />Logistics Support Officer. Fol-<lb />lowing this assignment, he was<lb />snet to the 46 AEROWD, Det<lb />0001, in Colorado Springs, Colo-<lb />rado, where he served as<lb />MAJCOM Assistnat Chief, Lo-<lb />gistics Readiness Division in<lb />1978. In 1981, he wastransferred<lb />to Air Forces Iceland, Keflavik,<lb />where he served as Chief of Sup-<lb />ply.<lb /><lb />Upon return in 1985, Col. Cox<lb />was assigned to the Ist Supply<lb />Squadron, Langley AFB, as Com-<lb />bat Operations Support Officer<lb />and Officer in Charge, Mobility<lb />Readiness Center. In 1988, he<lb />was transferred to HQ 12th Air<lb /><lb />Force, Bergstrom AFB, Texas,<lb />where he served as Deputy Di-<lb />rector of Supply. Following this<lb />tour, Col. Cox was assigned to<lb />the 343rd Supply Squadron,<lb />Rielson AFB, Alaska. Col. Cox<lb />returned in September 1993 to<lb />the lst Supply Squadron, Lan-<lb />gley AFB, Virginia as the com-<lb />mander.<lb /><lb />Col. Cox is a master logisti-<lb />cian. His military decorations<lb />include the Air Force Meritori-<lb />ous Service Medal with five Oak<lb />Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Com-<lb />mendation Medal and the Air<lb />Force Commendation Medal,<lb />with one Oak Leaf Cluster.<lb /><lb />Col. Cox is married to the<lb />former Josephine Sutton of<lb />Greenville, North Carolina. They<lb />have four children, William,<lb />April, Christopher, and Jeffrey.<lb /><lb />He is the son of William T. and<lb /><lb />Sally D. Cox of Farmville.<lb /><lb />Local Business Feature<lb /><lb />Kids Academy Day Care Center<lb />is located at 500 East Avenue,<lb />Ayden.<lb /><lb />Kids Academy is a state and<lb />local certified center.
