The place to begin is with<lb />that person who glares back at you<lb />from the bathroom mirror every<lb />morning.<lb /><lb />The law is remarkably consis-<lb />tent. Children echo their parents;<lb />pupils in a classroom are usually<lb />echoes of teachers; a congregation<lb />of worshipers is more than not a<lb />reflection of the pastors. If the<lb />once communicating is negative,<lb />severe, blunt, and demanding "<lb />guess what? Theecho reflects those<lb />same characteristics, almost with-<lb />out exception.<lb /><lb />The law of echoes. If you want<lb />others to judge and condemn you,<lb />you start it. If you want them to be<lb />understanding, broadminded, al-<lb />lowing you room to be you, then<lb />begin by being that way yourself.<lb />Like begets like. Smiles breed<lb />smiles. A positive attitude is as<lb />contagious as Hong Kong flu. Un-<lb />fortunately, so are frowns, sighs,<lb />and harsh words. Whatever you<lb />deposit in the echo bank, you draw<lb />in return. Sometimes with inter-<lb />est.<lb /><lb />The law of echoes applies to<lb />marriage. You want a wife who is<lb />gracious, forgiving, tolerant, and<lb />supportive? Start with her hus-<lb />band. It will roll from your soul to<lb />hers, my friend. As our Savior puts<lb />it, oTreat her exactly as you would<lb />like her to treat you ?, that Ts quite<lb />a promise. But it rests on quite an<lb />assignment.<lb /><lb />God is in charge of my day, not I.<lb />One of His preferred methods of<lb />training us is through adjustment<lb />to irritation.<lb /><lb />Read: Daniel 6:1-28; Job 23:8-<lb />12.<lb /><lb />Excerpts from Charles<lb />Swindoll Ts Growing Strong in the<lb />seasons of life Ts recipe<lb /><lb />Life recipe<lb /><lb />1 cup of Good Thoughts<lb /><lb />1 cup of Kind Deeds<lb /><lb />1 cup of Consideration for Oth-<lb />ers<lb /><lb />3 cups of Forgiveness<lb /><lb />2 cups of Well-Beaten Faults<lb /><lb />Mix these thoroughly and add<lb />Tears of Joy and Sorrow and Sym-<lb />pathy for Others. Children also tend to<lb />be easily distracted and often have<lb />difficulty waiting their turn in ac-<lb />tivities or games. He or she has<lb />difficulty sitting still and tends to<lb />be overactive (have a lot of energy)<lb />in various settings like at home,<lb />church, grocery store, etc.<lb /><lb />Children who exhibit these char-<lb />acteristics for longer than six<lb />months may be at-risk for having<lb />this disorder.
