        <p>Nashville, Tenn. July the 7th, 1864<lb /><lb />Dear Father and Mother:<lb /><lb />I set myself to inform you how I am getting along. I am getting along very well. I am well enough every way only my legs they are so lame that I can't hardly get along. My back is very lame and when<lb />I am down I can hardly get to my feet.<lb /><lb />I am in good spirits and think that I will get along all right.<lb />In a few days the Quaker (?) says that I will be able for entry for two or three months but I think that I will be able for duty sooner; lots of the boys are going home every day </p>
