<p>September 18, 1995<lb /><lb />Dr. Kermit Hunter<lb />9004 Villa Park Circle<lb />Dallas, TX 75225<lb /><lb />Dear Kermit:<lb /><lb />Thanks so much for agreeing to serve on one of the Paul Green Seminar<lb />panels at the National Conference on Outdoor Drama, October 25-28, 1995, on<lb />the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I?Tm sorry I?Tm so late in writing to spell out<lb />the particulars, but we needed to put the conference brochure to bed, and now<lb />that we?Tve done that, I?Tm free to write.<lb /><lb />The Paul Green Seminars this year will focus on what many feel is the most<lb />important issue in outdoor drama today: production quality. We?Tve asked<lb />some of the premiere artistic directors, playwrights, producers and sages to<lb />speak on assigned topics all dealing with what?Ts to be done to improve and<lb />maintain production quality. We?Tre asking everyone to go right to the heart of<lb />the matter in a no-holds-barred, no-pulling-punches, spirited discussion. We<lb />would like for you to focus on WHAT SHOULD BE DONE. Tell it like it is,<lb />and don?Tt beat around the bushes. Your specific subject, which only you will<lb />address is:<lb /><lb />?oMaintaining the Integrity of the Script?<lb /><lb />You will be on a panel with two other playwrights, and the session is<lb />scheduled from 10:45am - 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 28, in the Ramada Inn,<lb />Kill Devil Hills, NC, mile post 9%.<lb /><lb />Your fellow panelists and their topics will be:<lb /><lb />John Ahart, playwright, Your Obedient Servant, A. Lincoln, Petersburg, IL<lb />?oShould Our Scripts Reinvent the Past to Fit the Present?<lb /><lb />Rusty Mundell, playwright, Shadows in the Forest, Harrodsburg, KY<lb />?oMixing Substance and Spectacle?<lb /><lb /></p>

<p>Marsha Warren, executive director of the Paul Green Foundation, will serve as<lb />the moderator. Our plan is for her to give a brief introduction, and to turn it<lb />over to each panelist for their remarks. As you can see, the time is short, and<lb />so each person will be limited to 10-15 minutes tops. After all three people<lb />have had their say, Marsha will open the seminar for questions from the floor.<lb />We want to have at least 20-30 minutes for that if we can. So, if you will, watch<lb />your time.<lb /><lb />As the name implies, these seminars are sponsored by the Paul Green<lb />Foundation. They have been very generous in their support and to help offset<lb />your expenses, will be sending you a check for $250.<lb /><lb />Thanks again for taking this on for us. We think these seminars will address a<lb />critical need and the plan is to record the sessions for transcription and<lb />distribution to those who could not attend. We also plan to have a reporter<lb />cover the seminars for a subsequent story in U.S. Outdoor Drama.<lb /><lb />If you have any questions about these plans, please let me know. You should<lb />be getting the conference brochure with registration forms any day now.<lb /><lb />Sincerely,<lb /><lb />Scott J. Parker<lb />Director<lb /><lb /></p>
