In reference to "right on" and "death to the<lb />

Was a ical small matter. I don't think anybody<lb />
Should make a big deal about it I am also very<lb />
disappointed to see oui gieat University allow<lb />

With that kind ol offering, youi papei certainly<lb />

let's take a look He suggests that Mr. Nixon<lb />

Would Mi Eichling like to have ICC students<lb />

nd I did appreciate youi inviting us to read<lb />

An interesting observation is that it was<lb />
considerably more "profane" than the "public<lb />

And the student body helped pay foi this<lb />
article. How about your editorial<lb />

philosophical question is whether or not a<lb />

My roommate and I were leaving our room at<lb />

an houi latei mv roommate discovered he had<lb />
lefl his key in the room. I had a lot ol work to<lb />
do that night at the library and needed my<lb />
hoks My roommate went down to get the<lb />

said the advisoi had refused to come up. I<lb />
'bought there must he some misunderstanding<lb />
because it stales in the pamphlet ol guidelines<lb />
ioi dormitory management that n is the<lb />
advisor's duty to open the dooi when the key is<lb />
misplaced. So. I went down mysell Watts was<lb />

finished, he (old me he wasn't going all the way<lb />
up the staiis jusl lo open my door. I told him<lb />
all he had to do was get in the elevatoi He si ill<lb />
refused. I asked him if he didn't have a duty to<lb />
the men in Tyler Dorm. He then stated thai his<lb />
services were only tor the men and anyone who<lb />
let another student use his key was not a man. I<lb />
relumed laler with our hall proctor and again<lb />
he said he was using his judgment to decide<lb />
who he would help. About a half hour laler the<lb />
hall proctor went down and showed the rule to<lb />
him. but he still refused. The reason this time<lb />
was that our key was not misplaced; we knew<lb />
where it was and even though we couldn't get<lb />
to it the rule did not apply.<lb />
Well. Walts, it's not your job to judge my<lb />
maturity. Secondly, according to Webster,<lb />
misplaced means "put in the wrong place"<lb />
which is exactly what happened. Thirdly. I'm<lb />
trying to graduate spring and you caused me to<lb />
miss five hours of working on a project that<lb />
counts 259S of my final grade. And last of all. I<lb />
think you didn't come up because you're lay<lb />
and don't have any desire to help the men in<lb />

More assaults<lb />
To Fountainhead:<lb />
The number id attempted and successful<lb />
assaults on the ECU campus have steadily<lb />
increased this year. I believe there have been 32<lb />
reported cases. (I wondei how many have not<lb />
been reported')<lb />
Just last weekend, there wcie foul attacks on<lb />
women students.<lb />
Obviously, the attacker is a male. Both the<lb />
male students of ECU and male Greenville<lb />
inhabitants can easily learn the tegulai schedule<lb />
of any nunibei id girls on campus, therefore,<lb />
making it possible for the sex-deprived male lo<lb />
pounce at the most advantageous time.<lb />
Evidently, some males have found then drives<lb />
uncontrolable, foi in one incident, a boy<lb />
attacked in bioad day light and in trout ot a<lb />
dorm, this a most conspicuous place<lb />
What is the solution One may suggest a<lb />
tightening of security .This is wise; the situation<lb />
demands this response. Bettet lighting is also<lb />
necessary. One may advise always walking in<lb />
groups of two oi more. This is not always<lb />
possible, much less feasible. Sometimes, there is<lb />
no one going in youi direction: and sometimes<lb />
one likes to walk alone. There is one last resort.<lb />
and that is a plea to the male attackers (who<lb />
most likely will nevei read this) I don't see<lb />
how H is possible foi you to commit this<lb />
offense and. at die same time, realize the<lb />
damage it is doing. Remember, il everyone<lb />
acted upon then desues. the world would be in<lb />
worse chaos than n is now. Ther is always<lb />
anothei outlet foi one's desues. It seems that<lb />
the lax atmosphere will continue to breed<lb />
mishap, if all persons involved do not become<lb />
aware of the problems involved.<lb />

Man not perfect<lb />
To Fountainhead<lb />
Miss McCuliers. Mi Galloway, Mr. Dixon.<lb />
and students, someone is definitely guilty and<lb />
deep inside, maybe behind youi pride oi sell<lb />
preservation, you know who you ate. If you<lb />
cannot acknowledge the wrong you have done<lb />
you are deceiving all those that have faith m<lb />
you and your stoiy. as well as deceiving<lb />
yourself. I do not know who is light but I do<lb />
know someone, maybe all ol you. was wrong in<lb />
being hasty that Homecoming day<lb />
Let us make amends and attempt to<lb />
eliminate the ill feelings that have grown out ot<lb />
this unfortunate incident. Man is not perfect<lb />
whether blue, red, or green<lb />
Lack of communication seemed to be the<lb />
cause of the misunderstanding. The vice-<lb />
president is responsible lo see that someone is<lb />
responsible to see that each cheerleader has a<lb />
complete uniform. TEAM WORK, people, is<lb />
the only way 9.000 people can get anything<lb />
accomplished. If a handful neglect this duty.<lb />
ECU will never be a great university If we<lb />
cannot talk things out without icsortmg to<lb />
physical blows let us all go home and become<lb />
more animalistic than we already are.<lb />

Incapable of job<lb />
To Fountainhead.<lb />
As a black student at last Carolina. I wish to<lb />
express my feelings about recent incidents -<lb />
i.e the closing ol one ol my sisteis and the<lb />
stoking of one of my brothers by an individual<lb />
whose position would indicate that he has<lb />
respectability<lb />
I contend that this incident proves that the<lb />
individual in question, Phil Dixon.<lb />
vice-president ot the SGA, is without the<lb />
qualities required for one to function<lb />
effectively in this capacity .<lb />
What qualities aie lacking Common<lb />
courtesy, first of all. is noticeably absent<lb />
Profanity is never acceptable for mixed<lb />
company. The ability to discuss a situation<lb />
peacefully has also seemed to escape him.<lb />
Moreover, it is obvious that such conduct "is<lb />
unbecoming to an last Carolina student<lb />
These grounds are often sufficient for dismissal<lb />
of a student, whether the dismissal be<lb />
temporary or permanent. There is no request<lb />
that this person be dismissed from the student<lb />
body, jusl that the validity of his holding an<lb />
office be reconsidered.<lb />
Further, the background ol this Incident<lb />
forces upon all who can see the realization that<lb />
this elected official does not have the interest<lb />
and oi well being ot the entire sludeut body a!<lb />
heart, and moreover, is not capable of doing the<lb />
job that he is paid to do.<lb />

period on Friday and Saturday nights Certain<lb />
1(1 administrators aie closed-minded and<lb />
bull-headed in their opposition to open housing<lb />
or co-ed dorms on our campus. They base this<lb />
opposition on existing problems that are their<lb />
own faull Worst of all. freshmen and<lb />
sophomores are forced to live in the dorms and<lb />
give up the rights they would have elsewhere<lb />
The MRC and SGA are trying to help the<lb />
problem, but they are getting only bullshit<lb />
from the officials concerned. Both the<lb />
President of the University and the Dean of<lb />
Men have voiced approval of co-ed dorms. If so.<lb />
then why don't we have them0 Who is blocking<lb />

Let us unite, blacks, whites, day students,<lb />

"booklet" on "Hardship Determents foi<lb />
instance, is shortei than this column which<lb />
raises the question, when is a column a<lb />
"booklet" and v ice versa '<lb />
While the "booklets" are "factual" as the<lb />
PIO asserts, the facts are mostly nonfunctional<lb />
You simply cannoi use them lake one typical<lb />
example out ol many. "The Lottery" explains:<lb />
"H a man receives a very low numbei. his<lb />

information all ol it is conveyed on the<lb />
back ol youi Notice ol Classification In fact.<lb />
youi wild is even more detailed because it also<lb />
tells you that a Presidential appeal must be<lb />
requested in w riting<lb />
H "Perspectives on the Draft" were really<lb />
detailed and useful, u would explain how i<lb />
obtain a Presidential appeal, even when the vote<lb />
"i the state appeal board is unanimous: how to<lb />
gei the state appeal board t" reconsidei its own<lb />
