The School of Allied Health Pro-<lb />

The school and its plans are a<lb />
main vehicle of a major ECU ob-<lb />
jective in recent years, the im-<lb />
provement of health services for<lb />
Eastern North Carolina and the en-<lb />

Foundation Ofters<lb />
Program For Freshmen<lb />
Freshman students who wish to<lb />
apply for a year round program de-<lb />
igned to build leadership through<lb />
a plan of intensive study and sum-<lb />
mer work will have the opportun-<lb />
ity through the University's Year<lb />
Round Leadership Training Pro-<lb />
gram.<lb />
The program, which is now be-<lb />
ginning its second year of opera-<lb />
tion on the East Carolina cammis.<lb />
is administered under the auspices<lb />
of the Richardson Foundation, a<lb />
nationally renowned program for<lb />
the development of future leaders<lb />
through experiences provided on<lb />
the college level.<lb />
The Richardson Foundation initi-<lb />
ated the East Carolina project last<lb />
year when it gave a grant to be-<lb />
a program on campus.<lb />
All Frosh Eligible<lb />
AH freshman students are eligi-<lb />
ble to apply for the program,<lb />
which stresses campus leadership<lb />
and scholastic excellence during<lb />
the regular academic year, fol-<lb />
lowed by the placement of the stu-<lb />
dent with regular employment dur-<lb />
, the summer months. Employ-<lb />
ment provided by the foundation<lb />
keyed toward providing the stu-<lb />
dent with a maximum of re-pon-<lb />
ibility and leadership opportunity.<lb />
Students working under the foun-<lb />
dation are employed in diverse job<lb />
areas, some in banks, some with<lb />
the U.S. Park Service, some with<lb />
private industry, and some with<lb />
"�overnment service in Washington,<lb />

Oh Say Can't You See?<lb />
Small things can mean quite a great deal, especially to a<lb />
new university trying to promote an image o being a major<lb />
competiti r in the field of intercollegiate athletics.<lb />
The recent Eastern Carolina Classic was such an ei'forl<lb />
by this institution, as it tried to prove to the people of North<lb />
Carolin; that it is worthy of holding a position of athletic<lb />
honor.<lb />
As a whole, the tournament went oft' �rs planned, provid-<lb />
ing widespread hopes for improvement in the crowds nexl<lb />
ye<lb />
On oversight, which has been in existence since the con<lb />
struction of Minges Coliseum and it dedication last year, pro-<lb />
vided a blot on the otherwise excellent comportment of<lb />
three-daj affair.<lb />
Somehow, through some administrative hang-up, no Am-<lb />
erica - has ever been hung in the new Coliseum, thus pro-<lb />
viding a great deal of embarrassment for Mast Carolina fan-<lb />
