Dr. Leo W. "Flash" Jenkins sub-<lb />

yesterday ait an afternoon press<lb />
conference. Dr. Jenkins gives up<lb />
the Presidency of Bast Carolina in<lb />
order to accept active duty as the<lb />
moononaut for America's first Lun-<lb />

Dr. Jenkins intormed newsmen<lb />
that Operation Lunar Probe has<lb />
been in the making for the past<lb />
two years. "FLASH" Jenkins will<lb />
make this treacherous Lunar Flight<lb />
in Capsule Bookstore Number One.<lb />
This name was derived by students<lb />
of East Carolina due to the tre-<lb />
mendous amount of money spent in<lb />
preparing the capsule for its antici-<lb />

The tentative launching for Opera-<lb />

occur -at the Azaelea Flower Show<lb />

Few casualties were reported<lb />

Campi is exciting. There are many things going on. The<lb />
kids are looking forward to a wild weekend. The kids are<lb />
always looking forward to a wild weekend. But, the kids are<lb />
lucky this weekend. The weekend will be wild. The "flower<lb />
show" at the beach is this weekend.<lb />
We had a wild weekend last weekend. The local yocals<lb />
had a rebel-rousing KKK meeting. It was loads of fun. They<lb />
burned a cross, Whee.<lb />
Our President will have a wild weekend. He is going to<lb />
the moon this weekend or some weekend soon. Whee.<lb />
The kids like to juke it up. With their little flasks they<lb />
booze it up . . . and up . . . and up . . . whee.<lb />
Their campus is exciting. There are tractors, and trucks,<lb />
and workmen around all the time. Why do all the workmen<lb />
look at the coeds?<lb />
There was a workman looking at a coed just last week.<lb />
He was looking very hard. He was almost staring. He was<lb />
staring. He got run over by a tractor. Whee.<lb />
We like to see progress in action. We like to see the<lb />
school expanding. We see the buildings being built. We like<lb />
to move into a new building every week. Then wre like to<lb />
throw cigarette butts on the floors and make them black. Whee.<lb />
We like the progress in the academics. We like for the<lb />
courses to get harder . . . and harder. We like to flunk out.<lb />
Whee.<lb />
We like the new stoplight. It doesn't work. Whee.<lb />
We like our athletics. We especially like scalps. We en-<lb />
joyed scalping the Redmen of Massachusetts. We now want<lb />
the scalps of the Wolfpack. Whee.<lb />
We like our soda shop now. It has that quaint look. It<lb />
has a dirty smell. We also like the Pepsi's. But who likes<lb />
dirty smelling Pepsi's. They won't be dirty smelling Pepsi's<lb />
long. We are getting a new soaa shop. That is, if the work-<lb />
men don't stop getting run over. Then our Pepsi's will have<lb />
a "new paint" smell. Whee.<lb />
We like to play. Play, play, play. We like to play in the<lb />
streets. We like to play in class. We like to play in Wright<lb />
Fountain. We like to wasn clothes in it too. If you aren't a<lb />
believer . . . look at the suds. We like suds too. Whee.<lb />
We like Homecoming Weekend. That's when everyone<lb />
comes home. Sometimes it looks like Homecoming Weekend<lb />
every weekend. Everyone goes home.<lb />
We like to criticize. Criticize, criticize, criticize. We like<lb />
to criticize the administration . . . the SGA . . . the newspaper.<lb />
Criticism is fun. Fun, fun, fun. We like fun. That's why we<lb />
critize, Whee.<lb />
We like entertainment. We want more entertainment.<lb />
We want better entertainment. We want Gypsy Rose Lee . . .<lb />
we want Minnie the Stripper. We want Peter, Paul and Mary<lb />
and James Browrn and Bo Didly. Whee.<lb />
We like the cafeterias. They are swell. No one ever dares<lb />
knock them. We like the food. We like the serene atmosphere.<lb />
We like the way everyone is so honest. No one ever thinks<lb />
of cheating or stealing. We think that the kids are swift<lb />
for not stealing. We think the swiftest kids are the kids that<lb />
never get caught. They have to be swift. Swift, swift, swift.<lb />
We like the world too. We like to live in wars . . . cold<lb />
wars? The adults tell us not to worry. But when we ask for a<lb />
new car, they tell us that the war in Viet Nam is costing them.<lb />
We want to play war. We will probably get the chance. Whee.<lb />
We also like civil rights marches. March, march, march.<lb />
We saw the rights march on the tube last week. We thought<lb />
it was crowded. Then we went to the Christian youth pro-<lb />
gram that night. We sang a song. We sang: "March On, March<lb />
On, Almighty King Whee.<lb />
We like our crazy newspaper. We also like the people that<lb />
let us play with our crazy newspaper this week. They are<lb />
nice. We will have to get together and play some other time.<lb />
Campi is exciting.<lb />

Co-ed dormitories and two college-<lb />
supported barrooms were among the<lb />
measures passed by the newly form-<lb />
ed faculty Senate Monday night. The<lb />
business discussed and acted upon<lb />
by the senate may be classified in-<lb />
to two areas: academic and social<lb />
reformation.<lb />
Dr. Rachael Kilpatnek moved that<lb />
all students be required to take<lb />
English 2600 remedial English) at<lb />
the end of their Sophomore year.<lb />
Dr. Kilpatrick felt that this meas-<lb />
ure would do awav with the tedieous<lb />
task of correcting some 200 Junior<lb />
proficiency tests. Dr. Klip crick's<lb />
motion was seconded and p .ssed by<lb />
the Senate.<lb />
Director of admissions, Dr. John<lb />
Home, also proposed that the "new<lb />
cut system" be repealed. Dr. Home<lb />
reflected that th;s cut system was<lb />
hastily passed under pressure from<lb />
Hie S.G.A. and other malevolent<lb />
student groups. The "4 pent" sys-<lb />
tem was also repealed. This re-<lb />
peal, according to Registrar Worth<lb />
Raker, was made because the whole<lb />
IBM system would have to be chang-<lb />
ed in order to meet this new grad-<lb />
ing system. And Mr. Duncan. E.Cs,<lb />
business manager, stated that it<lb />
would be too expensive, the school<lb />
could not afford it. and the Staite<lb />
Department f Fdueaton would not<lb />
alot money for such a triv'al cause.<lb />
In the area of social reformation.<lb />
Dean of Women. Ruth White joined<lb />
with Dean of Men. James Mallory,<lb />
and proposed a measure which call-<lb />
ed for "he establishment of "co-ed<lb />
dormitories This measure, accord-<lb />
ing to Psychology Department head.<lb />
Dr. Prewitt, would reduce the rate<lb />
of peosmiscuity on campus. Further-<lb />
more. Dean White stressed that<lb />
co-ed dormitories would be econom-<lb />
ical as well as convenient. Men stu-<lb />
dents would not have to<lb />
their dates, and women<lb />
would not be obligated<lb />
"sign out slips'<lb />

ther added that<lb />
Dean Mallory fur<lb />

male and female students could balk<lb />

blems. The only stipulation attach-<lb />
ed to "co-ed dorm measure- is<lb />
that room doors are to be unlock-<lb />

authorized. The new proposal was<lb />

The chapter has stocked a 25-car<lb />
