The initiation began in the Cam-<lb />

locked in the dressing room, and<lb />
were unmercifully tortured by<lb />
Floyd Hinton's loud snoring for<lb />
several hours.<lb />
Returning at 9:30 in warwhoop<lb />

The Tecoan, issued a full two<lb />
weeks before the termination of<lb />
the school year, has been proclaimed<lb />
by many to be the best yearbook in<lb />
the College history.<lb />
The 19-16 annual carries out its<lb />
theme in a dignified manner, and is<lb />
devoid of the comedy so often<lb />
characteristic of high school year-<lb />

A MESSAGE TO OUR<lb />
1936 CLASSES<lb />
You have been with us long<lb />
enough for us to learn to love<lb />
and respect you; we shall miss<lb />
you when you leave the campus,<lb />
June 1. We trust your stay<lb />
here has been worth while and<lb />
that you are now much better<lb />
prepared to serve humanity than<lb />
when you came.<lb />
The following suggestions seem<lb />
to me to be pertinent at this<lb />
time:<lb />
1. Express your apprecia-<lb />
tion to the ones who have made<lb />
it possible for you to secure the<lb />
training you have; do not post-<lb />
pone this; you will regret it<lb />
if you do.<lb />
2. Continue to grow; do not<lb />
atrophy; keep abreast of the<lb />
times; a person, like a tree, be-<lb />
gins to die when he ceases to<lb />
growwe want you to live to a<lb />
ripe old age.<lb />
3. Take an active part in the<lb />
iffairs of your communityand<lb />
that community is world wide;<lb />
the responsibility of leadership<lb />
is greater on you than on those<lb />
who have not had your op-<lb />
portunities; do not be a shirker.<lb />
4. Happiness, which is<lb />
urually regarded as the chief<lb />
end in life, will not come to him<lb />
who looks for it, but it will come<lb />
enly to the ones who strive to<lb />
be of service to others. We wish<lb />
you all the happiness in life<lb />
that you are capable of receiving.<lb />

COOPERATION NEEDED<lb />
For this eminent, we may not only lc fired from the staff, l.ut also<lb />
may receive a little rough treatment from a certain faculty adviser not<lb />
so far removed from the Tbco Echo office. Anyway, here goes!<lb />
Miss Mamie F. Jenkins, College loud-speaker and editorial adviser for<lb />
the Tfico Echo, has instilled in m the spirit of "snooping" for news,<lb />
and after exhausting other sources, we did a little of this "snooping"<lb />
around her own office. The results of the campaign will probably be<lb />
amazing to most oi you.<lb />
News articles pass from Miss Jenkins' hands to twenty-one state pa-<lb />
pers .twice each week, and to the Daily lleflector, local paper, every day.<lb />
Although this work suggests concentrated activity, it has become mere<lb />
routine to Miss Jenkins and her two student typists, Virginia Ellis and<lb />
Dorothy Grumpier, It is on special occasions such as High School Day.<lb />
Open House, or Commencement, when news pours in suddenly, that the<lb />
office literally goes through a mad. rushing hour.<lb />
Nevertheless, regardless of Miss Jenkins' capability, newspaper work<lb />
is not a respnnsihility for a few. The best result may be obtained only<lb />
through the cooperation of others. And here is where the campus or-<lb />
ganizations may render a great help. We need campus reporters. At<lb />
present, we have them only in name. Instead of waiting for Miss Jen-<lb />
kins or the staff members to solicit news, organization reporters should<lb />
cooperate by contributing their "finds" immediately. Miss Jenkins is<lb />
now sending out an "SOS" to students, faculty, and organizations. She<lb />
cannot carry on alone. Let's cooperate with her in every way possible<lb />
