Our chief purpose, as teachers in the high school, should be to stimu-<lb />
late as much thinking as possible on the part of the students while help-<lb />
ing to train them for the civilization of the period. And how may teachers<lb />
encourage thinking if they may present only one viewpoint to the student?<lb />
There has been a time when teachers were supposed to impart personal<lb />
belief prejudices, and current opinions fo the receiving mind of the<lb />
young. But today, unless a teacher is "rusty he is more interested in<lb />
what the student thinks.<lb />
As prospective teachers we should realize the value of thinking that<lb />
will grow out of the presentation of contrary doctrines when issues whether<lb />
of great or little importance are introduced.<lb />
A JOB WELL DONE<lb />

equally enjoyable to the visitors.<lb />
In view of the success of the first High School Day ever to be held at<lb />
this college, we hope that the event will become an annual affair.<lb />

Now here's a little news be-<lb />
hind the news. Our photog-<lb />
rapher looked all afternoon for<lb />
a high school student who mod-<lb />
estly admitted he was only six<lb />
feet, nine inches in height.<lb />
The much-sought-for student<lb />
is from Conway High School,<lb />
and his name is Albert Bur-<lb />
gess. Other than that, we know<lb />
very little about "his high-<lb />
ness However, after a little<lb />
double checking, Mr. Cum-<lb />
mings, Dr. Frank, and Dr.<lb />
Haynes assured us that the<lb />
"six-feet-nine" phase of the<lb />
story is true.<lb />
It is reported that Albert<lb />
asked, "What's the tallest stu-<lb />
dent up here?" and when told<lb />
that six feet, five inches was the<lb />
limit, he continued, "Well, I'm<lb />
about six feet, nine, I guess<lb />
Maybe this should be one of<lb />
Lowell Thomas' "tall stories<lb />
but anyway, we hope Albert<lb />
will be with us next year to<lb />
play basketball.<lb />

Baseball Terminology<lb />
Some of our fair students<lb />
have asked for explanations of<lb />
baseball terms, and our team<lb />
has lost about ninety pounds<lb />
trying to give simple defini-<lb />

Holland's first victory in three starts.<lb />
Both of the Hinton boys did some<lb />

Athletes learn early the value<lb />

Co-operation and discipline are<lb />
essential to teaching efficiency.<lb />
Therefore, does it not stand to<lb />
reason that our oh-so-efficient<lb />
professors of the male variety<lb />
might possibly have been, and<lb />
most probably were, former<lb />
athletes of no small ability?<lb />
Following up this obvious (and<lb />
obviously original) deduction,<lb />
our roving reporter, by dint of<lb />
ever-so-many pesky questions,<lb />
found the following truths: Mr.<lb />
Deal played tennis, baseball<lb />
football, and basketball; Dr.<lb />
Slay played football; Dr.<lb />
Frank played baseball; Mr.<lb />

their own with the pros in quite ai<lb />

Each team made six hits. Wells<lb />

two hits in his four innings of duty<lb />
However the safeties were mixed<lb />
