This, however, does not apply to students taking either of the Academic Courses. 6 EXPLANATION OF COURSES Tlie full courses E, F. G. and H, each make a year's work. When three terms are completed in any course the student is given credit for one year's work. El, E2, ES is One Year Course A in catalogue. Fl, F2, FS is One Year Course B in catalogue. Gl, G2, Gd is a course for students who have received the diploma of this chool. HI, 112, H3 is a course for students who have received this school's certificate for completing either of the One Year Courses. A Course prepares for B work. B and H Courses prepare for G work. C Course prepares for D work. When the full course E or F is completed the student will be given the school's certificate. When course D is completed the student will be awarded the diploma of the school. Students who have done work equivalent to a four years high school course, except in foreign languages, should take G work. Students without high school scholarship, but with some teach- ing experience, should take E work. Students who wish to be- come primary teachers should take Fl work. Students without high school scholarship and without teaching experience should select one of the F courses. Students who have received the school's diploma should take Gl work. Students who have received the school's certificate should take HI work. If you do not find in the courses offered just what you need, write to us and make your needs clear. If possible, we will give you what you want, for it is the purpose of this school to offer the teachers of our State those studies that will help them to become most efiicient. The teachers of ISTorth Carolina have a right to demand the best there is, and this school intends to meet that demand. We will do for you all that the funds at our disposal will permit. In filling in your application, he sure to designate what course you wish to take. Write the name of the course after the ques- tion, "Which course do you wish to take?" The names of the courses offered are: Al, Bl, CI, Dl, El, E2, E3, Fl, F2, FS, Ql, G2, OZ, HI, H2, and H3. HfFIEMAET The school infirmary is kept open for tlie Summer Term just as it is for any other term. A medical and infirmary fee of $1 is charged. This fee covers all expenses for medical attention, including the services of the school physician, the services of the nurse, and the use of the infirmary, but does not include the cost of filling prescriptions. BOOKS The school will furnish text-books to all who attend the Sum- mer Term. For this the small fee of $1.50 is charged. Students may furnish their own books and not pay the book fee. It will be economy, however, to rent the books. The school sells books to students at cost. LIBEAET The school has a good pedagogical and reference library of 1,850 bound volumes, and many bulletins, magazines, and news- papers. EXPENSES Registration fee $ 2.50 Book fee 1.50 Medical and infirmary fee 1.00 Board, room, light, and laundry 25.00 Total for two months $30.00 These expenses apply to those students who live in the dormi- tories and are for the entire term of eight weeks. If the dormi- tory students prefer to pay by the month the first payment will be $17.50 (the fees of $5 and $12.50 for board, room, etc., for four weeks), due June 13th. The last month's payment will be $12.50, due July 11th. Those students who do not live in the dormitories pay only the registration fee ($2.50) and the book fee ($1.50). All fees are payable on the day of registration, and there will be no reduction in any of the fees. 8 STUDENT'S OUTFIT Each, student who lives iu the dormitories is expected to bring for her own use the following articles : Two pairs of sheets, one pair of blankets, two counterpanes (only single beds are used), two pillowcases, six towels, six table napkins. EESERVATION OF BOOMS Students who wish to spend eight weeks will be given rooms in the dormitories in preference to those who wish to stay only a part of the term. Rooms in the dormitories will not be reserved longer than June 15th, and then only upon a written request. TEEM CREDITS Students who wish to get credit for the term's work must be present seven consecutive weeks and take the examinations at the close of the term. If you register later than June 20th you cannot get credit for the work of the term. SPECIAL COURSES The school is offering again this summer Course Q, which is prepared especially for former students of the school who now hold the school's diploma, and Course H for students who have received a certificate for the completion of either of our One Year Courses. Course H prepares for C work. THE MODEL SCHOOL Classes of children will be taught in the Model School during the summer, and all students in the Training School for the Summer Term may observe actual class work and see how the principles of teaching are applied by experienced and skillful teachers. COUNTY INSTITUTES The State law provides that students who attend the Summer Term of the Training School shall not be required to attend a County Institute. For further information, address C. W.
