A series of lecture and laboratory presentations of the general principles and methods of patient management. 3201: Soft Tissue Evaluation and Treatment (2) e Prerequisites: HPRO 4310, 4311, 4330 Corequisite: ATHE 3202 A study of the evaluation and treatment for disorders of the musculo-skeletal system, including subjective and objective elements of the examination such as selective tissue tension testing, muscle testing and goniometry. Emphasis will be placed upon the utilization of evaluation findings as a basis for identifying the patient's disability, differential diagnosis, and correlation to treatment procedures which will include joint mobilization. 3202: Soft Tissue Evaluation and Treatment Laboratory (2) Four laboratory hours per week. Corequisite: PTHE 3201 A practice in musculo-skeletal evaluation and treatment utilizing rationale and principles presented in PTHE 3201. 3230: Functional Anatomy (3) Prerequisites: HPRO 4310, 4311, 4330 Lecture and laboratory course designed to provide a knowledge of the basic principles of human movement and body mechanics along with an analysis of muscle and joint action. Abnormal functions due to physical disability and disturbance in motor patterns will be analyzed. 3301: Basic Therapeutic Exercise (2) Prerequisites: PTHE 3201, 3202 A continuation of 3201 presenting the physiological basis, rationale for and techniques in evaluating cardiovascular, sensory, and respiratory systems; therapeugy exercise under normal and pathological conditions. 3302: Basic Therapeutic Exercise Laboratory (1) Two laboratory hours per week. Corequisite: PTHE 3301 Designed to develop skills in evaluation techniques and basic therapeutic exercise. 3991: Clinical Education II (3) The student will spend full time, 40 hours per week for 6 weeks, working in a clinical affiliation center. Prerequisite: PTHE 3990 A program of supervised clinical training and experience is arranged for the student in a large medical training facility. Emphasis will be toward special program functions of the physical therapist in a multifaceted institution. 4540: Research Seminar (2) Twelve laboratory hours per week for five weeks. Prerequisite: HPRO 4334 Guidance in the development of an investigative study. 4991: Clinical Education IV (5) The student will spend 40 hours per week for 10 weeks working in a clinical affiliation center. Prerequisite: PTHE 4990 A program of supervised clinical training and experience is arranged for each physical therapy student to include all types of patients and treatments.
