EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES OF OCTOBER 26, 1989 The Curriculum Committee met Thursday, October 26, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. in Brewster B-103. Members present were Cain, Carlton, Coulter, Grossnickle, Harrington, Joyce, Lapas, Lunney, Neal, Shea, Topper, Wease, and Wilentz. Additionally, Joy Larrimore, student member and Lori Lee, Faculty Senate office. The minutes of September 28, 1989 were read. Corrections were made in the listing of requirements for:.the B.S. degree in Clinical Laboratory Science:cytology track. The minutes of November 12, 1987 were corrected as requested by Professor Ralph Steele, HPERS. Certain LSS changes though approved by the University Curriculum Committee, were not included in the minutes. The clause was to include LSS 5000 as a required course for Commercial and Communication Recreation and to reduce restricted electives from 6 sh to 5 sh. Professor Wilbur Castellow, Psychology, requested a revision of the catalog description for PSYC 5521. Coulter moved to accept; Wease seconded. The motion passed. Professor Robert Gibson, Occupational Therapy, presented a request to reinstate OCCT 4041, previously deleted due to a typographical error. J. Shea moved to accept; Topper seconded. The motion passed. Other requests from Occupational Therapy were returned to the department for reconsideration. The request from Professor Farr, Women's Studies, was withdrawn. Professor Bob Muzzarelli, Speech-Language and Auditory Pathology, requested approval SLAP 5800: Communication Process and Disorders in Aging, and the addition of SLAP 5800 to the list of electives for the Gerontology minor. Neal moved to accept; Joyce seconded. The motion passed. Professor Cliff Knight, Biology, requested approval of B10L 3520: Biological Evolution; and B1OL 5678: Biology of Aging; and the addition of BIOL 5678 to the list of electives for the Gerontology minor. Lunney moved to accept; Coulter seconded. The motion passed. Professor Henry Ferrell, History, requested approval of HIST 5005: Selected Topics (amended to eliminate “in History"). Professor Maurice Simon, International Studies, presented requests for revision of the International Studies minor. Neal moved to return the proposals to committee; Lunney seconded.
