The minutes of January 12, 1989, were approved as amended. Professors Hugh Wease, John Ellen and Kenneth Wilburn, History, presented requests to change HIST 4200 to 3200, 4440 to 3440, 4430 to 3450, 4480 to 3480, 4481 to 3481, 4487 to 3487, 4420 to 3505, 4620 to 3620, 4630 to 3630, 4670 to 3670, 4210 to 5210, 4490 to 5670; change number and title fo 3510 to 3810 (History of Africa); add HIST 5660. Imperialism in Theory and practice, 1800 to the Present. It was also requested tht corresponding course numbers be changed in the European Studies Minor, BA, BS, BS Prof in German, Asian Studies Minor, African Studies Minor, Historical preservation and Museum Administration Minor. After minor editorial chantes, Shea moved and approval as amended, Yount seconded. The motion passed. Professor Will Ambrose, Biology, presented a request to add BIOL 5270. Marine Community Ecology. O'Rear moved acceptance as amended, Shea seconded. The motion passed. Grossnickle moved to bank DRED 3210, 3211; remove from course bank ITAL 1002 and ENGL 5420; Shea seconded. The motion passed. Vice Chancellor Bloodworth and Dean Bailey met with the Committee to discuss proposed "second major" requirements. As a result of these discussions Cain moved the Committee consider the concept of “second majors" including guidelines for their development; Wilentz seconded. The motion passed.
