Subcommittees: Update of FCC Handbook Disk Space Resolution Annual Vik. Signed: Report of the Faculty Computer Committee, page 2 List of committee accomplishments including recommendations made to agencies other than the Faculty Senate. 1. Updated FCC Handbook for Committee Members listing the functions and policies of the committee. 2. Chair attended the IBM educational computing conference in Greensboro in September. Reviewed and commented on the 1988-89 academic computing budget for CIS. Advised CIS on the need to increase disk space and improve tape handling capabilities. Assisted CIS in implementing the Academic Computing Lab Policy which was initiated by the FCC and adopted by the University last year. Assisted CIS on the implementation of the External Use (of computing resources) Policy which was initiated by the FCC and adopted by the University last year. Passed a resolution regarding disk space and funding for academic computing. Citation of the resolution numbers of Senate resolutions that originated with the committee. a ‘ s Proposals and/or business to be carried over to next year. Continued discussion with CIS regarding academic computing needs and priorities. Evaluation of the committee A. Structure -- The structure is adequate to accomplish the committee’s charge. B. Duties -- The committee’s duties are appropriately defined. Functions -- Internally the committee functions smoothly and enjoys a cooperative relationship with cIS. D. Personnel -- Most members attend regularly and contri- bute meaningfully to the mission of the committee. Suggestions for improving the effectiveness of the committee. The University should sponsor a committee member to attend major national and state computer conferences such as CAUSE and EDUCOM.
