Vi« A Brief statement of the committee organization, subcommittees, research activities, etc. Tae Mission sub-committee: George Bailey, Henry Ferrell, Bob Schellenberger. Charge: Develop a draft mission statement for the University. Resolution Sub-committee: Caroline Ayers, Bob Christian, Connie Kledaras. Charge: Develop a resolution supporting review of new academic program both before the request for permission to plan and before a request for permission to establish the program. New Structure Sub-committee: Ken Wilson, Doug McMillan, Bill Bloodworth. Charge: Prepare a report concerning how the review and approval process can be structured once the planning process is complete. VII. List of committee accomplishments including recommendations made to agencies other than the Faculty Senate. 1. Developed a Mission Statement for the University that has received wide support. 2. Advised the three Strategic Planning Workgroups (Institutional Values, Strengths and Weaknesses and ah External Environment) and Sue Hodges, Director of Institutional Research and Planning, on issues that need to be considered and on methods of including faculty in the process. Advised Chair of the Faculty concerning a Special Session of the Faculty Senate devoted to Strategic Planning. Advised the Chancellor on criteria to be used in evaluating proposed new degree programs. VIII.Citation of the resolution numbers of Senate resolutions that originated with the committee. 88-37 Mission Statement Draft 89-15 Resolution Regarding University-level Review of Proposed Programs Prior to the Request to Plan and Establish Such Programs. UX Proposals and/or business to be carried over to next year. 1. Continue Advising the various committees and task forces involved in Strategic Planning. @. Develop a proposal for a formal structure of University- level review for new academic programs before they are submitted to the General Administration for permission to plan and before permission to establish the program is requested. XT. Evaluation of the committee. A. Structure. The structure of the committee allows for broad participation by members of many Faculty Senate committees. It cannot be expanded without decreasing its ability to function as a working committee. Duties. No suggestions for change. Functions. The committee is very involved with advising various Groups involved with strategic planning. It does not currently advise the Chancellor on the proposed budget of the University prior to submission to the General Administration. Personnel. The committee members work together well.
