Dear Mr. Atkeson:

I have reviewed the resolutions approved by the Faculty
Senate at the March 15, 1988 meeting and approve resolutions
#88-14 through #88-18 as submitted. I ask your indulgence
relative to resolution #88-19. This proposed change to
Appendix D is sufficiently important with respect to its
impact upon the conduct of university affairs that I wish
to have some time to consider my response. As you know
from our previous discussions, I have strong reservations
about this proposed change to Appendix D in the context
of the wide variety of procedures incorporated within the
individual unit codes. As it now stands, I believe there are

far too many points of potential procedural contestation
to make the system workable with the proposed change.

I will provide further comments on this matter after
further investigation and reflection. In any case, I will
seek to respond further by May 1, 1988.
