the TIAA/CREF plans do not provide faculty members with the flexibility
to design pension plans appropriate to individual requirements and;

the TIAA/CREF plans do not permit transfer of funds from TIAA to CREF or
to other 403b plans; and

Whereas the TIAA/CREF plans do not offer a money market account; and

Whereas the TIAA/CREF plans do not permit lump sum withdrawals prior to
retirement and then only 10 percent; and

Whereas information about member's pension values is difficult to obtain; and
Whereas other mutual funds can now, by law, offer 403b tax shelters,
Be it resolved that the Faculty Senate recommend to the General Assembly that

the University of North Carolina system make available additional
separate retirement plans.
