CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 12, 1987 The Curriculum Committee met Thursday, November 12, 1987, at 1:00 p.m. in Brewster B-103. Members present were Neal, Keeter, Carlton, Wilentz, Coulter, Topper, Muller, Grossnickle, Yount, Sexauer (ex-officio) and Cain (ex-officio). Members absent were Lunney and Steele. The minutes of October 22, 1987 were approved with typos corrected. Also, add to SPAN 5370 Cervantes: (formerly Don Quijote) to clarify name change. Motion by Grossnickle to bank HOME 5336. Second by Yount. Motion passed. Professors Pat Terrell and Joe Congleton requested that ELEM 2123 and EDUC 3200 be approved as new courses, revising all teaching degrees. Request also included deletion of ELEM 2101 and banking of SEED 3325. Motion by Muller to approve package as requested. Second by Topper. Motion passed. Professor Doug McMillan requested the addition of MUSC 1406 (Music History and Literature I) to the Medieval and Renaissance Studies Minor as an elective. Keeter moved, Wilentz seconded; motion passed. Professor Bill Buckler requested revision of catalogue description BA in Geography by listing of GEOG 4001 (Geography of Transportation and Trade) under economic-human category and GEOG 5050, 5057 (Nautical Charts and Navigation) under techniques category. Professor Ennis Chestang requested the approval of change of level and hours of ASLA 4000 (Latin American Studies Seminar, 2 sh). Proposed is a 3 sh, 3000 level course. Request also included addition of new possible electives for the minor and a deletion of GEOG 2100 (World Geography: Developed Regions) as a possible elective.
