Members present were: Carlton, Steele, Keeter, neal, Coulter, Grossnickle, Yount, Wilentz, Lunney, Cain (ex-officio) and Sexauer (ex-officio). Absent: Topper The minutes of September 10, 1987 were approved with the following changes: Math 5121, prerequisite should read:"...or equivalent knowledge of Pascal or PL/1". Math 5132, course description, line 3, should be "Markov" processes, not '"markow''. Professor Wheatley, Business, presented the request to revise the BSBA (Marketing). Requested substitution of MKTG 4732 (Consumer Behavior) for MKTG 4352 (Selling and Sales Management) in the marketing Management concentration. Also requested that the marketing elective hours be raised from 9 s.h. to 12 s.h. Keeter moved approval of the course and change in hours. Seconded by Wilentz. The motion carried. Professor Oren representing the School of Art requested approval of Art 4970 (History of 19th and 20th Century Design) as an elective. Clarification of intent as to availability as elective for all students with 9 hrs. prerequisites. Primary intention is an elective for art majors, but others welcome with prerequisites. Suggest crossing out last line in H. from after "..within the School of Art." Will not change catalogue description or syllabus. Prof. Oren agreed to change. Coulter moved to approve as amended. Keeter seconded. Motion carried. Professiors O'Neil, Gartman and Denton, Social Work: A) Requested approval of JUST 2005 (Corrections), 2008 (Case Management), 2010 (Law Enforcement in America), 3500 (Principles of Criminal Law - formerly 4003), 3501 (Criminal Procedure - formerly 4003), 4500 (Issues, Values and Ethics in Criminal Justice), and 4990 (Field Ed & Seminar) and deletion of 4000, 4003. B) Requested approval of revision in BS in Criminal Justice. General education requirements would no longer require (i) choice of ENGL 3260 or HIST 3110 or POLS 3039 or SOCI 4345 (ii) choice of HIST 2140 or ENGL 3300. The students could choose any elective instead of these "forced choices". C) Requested approval of revision in BS in Social Work. There will be four (4) areas of interest (including composite) to choose from instead of 5. D) Requested approval of revision in Social Welfare minor. Remove JUST 4000 (Issues and Problems in Law Enforcement) and 4003 (Principles and Procedures of Criminal Law). Add JUST 2005, 3500, 3501, 4500 (see course titles above A) as electives. Professors Byington and Causby, Social Work, requested approval of new SOCW elective. SOCW 5007 (Women as Clients). Clarification: no prerequisites. C) To bank the following Music courses: MUSC 1645, 2645, 3645, 4645 (Men's Glee Club) and MUSC 2248 (Music of the World's Peoples), thereby removing Music 2248 from electives list in African Studies and Latin American Studies. Seconded by Steele. Motion passed. Motion by Steele to revise catalogue listing under Food Service Management on p. 38 of supplement to read electives above 2999 instead of 1999. This was original intent plus there are no electives possible below 2999. Seconded by Muller. Motion passed. OCCT 3015 failed to be listed as approved in our minutes of 1/22/87 (last academic year). This was an oversight, not disapproval of course. Motion by Carlton to be sure it is listed in new catalogue and treated as approved since 1/22/87. Seconded by Cain. Motion passed.
