CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES FEBRUARY 26, 1987 The Curriculum Committee met Thursday, February 26, 1987 at 1:30 p.m. in Brewster B-103. Members present were: Coulter, Steele, Keeter, Daugherty, Grossnickle, Carlton, Yount, Muller, Topper, Templeton. Member absent: Wease. The minutes of February 12, 1987 were approved as written. Professors Emilie Henning, Mary Kirkpatrick, and Betty Reynolds represented the School of Nursing for their proposal of a new course NURS 5327. Women's Health (3). Concern was expressed with respect to the interdisciplinary aspect of the course and the idea that it might be more appropriate to give it a WOST prefix. Steele was concerned about the nutrition component of the course. Yount moved to approve the course. The motion did not receive a second. Steele moved to table the course and recommend more study with respect to the interdisciplinary aspect. Coulter seconded. The motion to table passed. Professors Judith Rollins and Edward Markowski presented the changes requested by the School of Home Economics which were to add a new option in Home Economics Education and Business: Hospitality Management, add a new course HOME 3400. Hospitality Management (3), change HOME 4358 from 0 to 1 s.h.; change prerequisites for HOME 5303, 5304, 4312, 4313, A357 SPER One es a0, ses 4328, 4329; delete HOME 3225; and revise FNIM; General CUP and Food Service Management Minor. Steele moved to approve the package as amended. Templeton seconded. The motion passed. Yount moved to reconsider the Nursing course. Templeton seconded. The motion to reconsider was approved. Discussion continued along the same lines as before. Yount moved to approve the course. Templeton seconded. The vote was a tie and therefore failed to pass.
