None A brief statenent of committee organization, subcomnittees, research activities, etc. Holly Methews, Chair Robert Woodside, Vice-Chair Wartha Engelke, Secretery At the April 10 meeting a subcomaittee wes forned to research the history and rationale behind past ex-officio appointaents to Faculty Senate Committees. The sub- committee is chaired by Robert Woodside and includes Ted Gartman and Roger Eldridge. It was charged to report back to the entire comnittee at the first VII. meeting in the Fall of 1987. List of Committee Accoaplishaents: (1) The Committee recommended editorial changes to clarify nexbership provisions in the charges of the Research and Creative Activity Committee and the Teaching Grents Cozmaittee to the Faculty Senate; The Committee proposed resolutions to the Senate to create a new Unit Code Screening Comaittee and to revise the charge of the Faculty Governance Connittee; The Coamittee solicited volunteers and reconmanded slates of nominees for Faculty Assembly delegates, for Faculty Senate Committees, and for faculty slots on Administrative Conmnittees; The Committee denied a request from Charles R. Coble to substitute a representative fron the Council for Teacher Educetion for the representative of the Teacher Education Committee on the Educational Policies and Planning Connittee. Citation of the Resolution SBumbers of Senete Resolutions: Senate Resolution Bumber 86-27 originated with the Committee on Committees. Proposals and Business Carried Over to Next Year: (1) Consideration of a request froma the Continuing Education Committee to ammend the charge to add one ex-officio and one faculty seaber to the Comaittee; (2) Review of rationale for past ex-officio appointaents to Faculty Senate Committees pending subcommittee report. Evaluation of the Comaittee: Structure: auch improved with addition of new neabers aerving ateggered teraa; nore continuity. Duties: astisfactory Functions: satisfactory Personnel: satisfactory Suggestions for Improving Committee Effectiveness: The Connittee suggested improverents in the procedure for soliciting volunteers for Feculty Senate Comaittees. We reconmend increased communication with the Chancellor end with the Deans of the various achools in order to convince them of the need to encourage the feculty to serve on Faculty Senate Committees.
