We presented a resolution to the Senate recommending removal of the cap for persons employed 75% or less of full time. The Senate rejected the resolution. Viv A brief statement of Committee organization, etc. The Committee functioned as a whole to consider the issue of part time employment referred to us by the Senate, and functioned as the Faculty Grievance Committee with a subcommittee or eight members (excluding Adler and Pories, unit heads). List of Committee Accomplishments: The Committee considered the issue of removing the six-year cap for part-time employment as mentioned in V. Above. Recommendations were made to Ralph Kinsey, Chair of the Chancellor Search Committee regarding the criteria for selecting a new chancellor. Three grievances from faculty members were heard. A set of guidelines were developed for grievances that do not involve equal opportunity issues. Citation of the resolution numbers of Senate resolutions that originated with the Committee: None Proposals and/or business to be carried over to next year: None Evaluation of Committee: The duties of the Committee are well defined and the structure and functions of the Committee have generally operated smoothly and efficiently. The personnel are very hard working and dedicated. Suggestions for Improving the Effectiveness of the Committee: We have had some minor problems this year due to the fact that two members of the Committee could not serve on the Grievance Committee because of administrative appointments. It might be easier to get a quorum for grievance meetings if unit heads and other administrative officials were not nominated for the Faculty Affairs Committee.
