OFFICE -GeF Received ANG 2 saa EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY FACULTY SENATE RESOLUTION 85-29, April 23, 1985 meeting GREENVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA 27834-4353 THE CHANCELLOR August 19, 1985 Dr. William Bloodworth, Chair Department of English College of Arts and Sciences East Carolina University Dear Professor Bloodworth: I have carefully reviewed the revised code of the Department of English which was approved by the Faculty Senate. With the following modifications, I approve this revised code. 1. Section 1B, next to last paragraph. amit everything up to line 5 through "that". The paragraph would then read "All University officials who hold tenured positions in the department, even if they have less than half a normal teaching or research program in the department, may vote on the matters listed above." I believe this more accurately expresses what the code says and what you wish to do. 2. Section VII H. Please place the word "Departmental" following A at the beginning of the sentence. This makes it completely clear that a potential new appointee is not subject to the appeals process. Both the content and written style of the code represent a new level of maturation of unit codes. You are to be commended for this achievement. Sincerely, ~ Wow John M. Howell Chancellor JMH/ra cc? Vor. Kenneth R. Wilson Dr. Angelo A. Volpe Dr. Eugene E. Ryan Dr. James L.
