CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES February 14, 1985 The Curriculum Committee met February 14, 1985, at 1:30 p.m. in Brewster Be-103. Members present were: Grossnickle, Daugherty, Ziehr, Topper, Broadhurst, Wease, Templeton, Hancock, and Cain (ex officio). Members absent were: McMillen, Muller, Boyce, and Briley (student). The minutes of January 24, 1985, were approved with the correction on line 13 from the bottom of page 1 which changes the word, "Care" to "Core." Professor Carson Bays presented the request of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Economics to change the number of ECON 3243 to ECON 3144, Intermediate Microeconomics (3). The title and catalogue description remains the same. The change in number makes a corresponding change in the prerequisites of ECON 4020, ECON 4030, and ECON 4230. Also, the number will be changed in the Economics Major and Minor. Ziehr moved to approve the change. Topper seconded. The motion passed. Professor Frances Daugherty presented the request of the School of ART to offer the new courses ART 3000, 3001, Intermedia Studios I, II, (3,3). She Stated that these courses were Art electives for all ART degrees. Wease moved to approve the courses as amended. Broadhurst seconded. The motion passed. Professor Joe Shrader of the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Safety presented the new course DRED 5310, Adavanced Motorcycle Safety (3). Broadhurst moved to approve. Hancock seconded. The motion passed. Professors Martin Schwarz and Michael Bassman presented the request of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures to revise the BA and BS in French, revise the French minor, offer a new BS option in French Professions, and new courses FRED 2215, French Culture and Civilization to World War I (3), FRED 2216, French Culture and Civilization from World War I to the Present (2), FREN 2500, Introduction to Literature of French Speaking World (3), FREN 3216, Advanced Oral and Written Composition (3), FREN 4306, Introduciton to Translation (3). Daugherty moved to approve the proposals as amended, Wease seconded. The motion passed with two dissenting votes. A representative from HPERS did not attend the meeting so the agenda item was not considered.
