CURRICULUM COMMITTEE Minutes January 24, 1985 The Curriculum Committee met January 24, 1985, at 1:30 p.m. in Brewster B-103. Members present were: McMillan, Daugherty, Grossnickle, Broadhurst, Wease, Ziehr, Hinicock, Templeton, Topper, and Cain (ex officio). Members absent were: Nuller, Boyce, and Briley (student). The minutes were approved as written, Grossnickle moved to remove from the Curriculum Bank DNCE 4072, Contemouvrary ivince VII (3), and DNCE 4082, Contemporary Dance VIII (3). McMiilan seconded and the motion passed. McMillan moved to approve the revised catalogue description for ENGL 1200, Composition (3) as presented by the Department of English. Templeton seconded. The motion passed. The courses from the School of Art were postponed since there was no representative present. Professors Kathryn Kolasa and Edward Markowski presented the proposal of the School of Home Economics to revise the Food, Nutrition and Institution Management major (CUP option) and the Child Development and Family Relations Major; to add new courses HOME 2109, Nutrition and Weight Control (1); HOME 3226, 3227, Advanced Normal Nutrition I, II (3,2); HOME 3394, Management of Food Quantity Production and Purchasing Lab (1), HOME 4315, 4316, Clinical Nutrition Through the Life Cycle (5,0); HOME 4318, 4319, Professional Dietetics Practice (12,0); HOME 4358, Nutrition Education Laboratory (0); HOME 5420, Family Intervention Models (3); and to delete HOME 4334, 4335, 4344, 4345, Clinical Dietetics II, III. Broadhurst moved to approve the proposal as amended. Boyce seconded. The motion passed. Professors Emilie Henning, Hazel Aslakson, Eunice Messler and Mary Jane Brewer of the School of Nursing presented the proposed change in the B.S. It was noted that SOCI 3213, 3214 were to be required and that these two courses used the computer. Therefore, with the additional number of students it would be helpful to know if the Computing Center had been contacted. Professor James Mitchell of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Economics was present and went on record by saying that the Computing Center had been contacted and that there was no problem. Due to the considerable change in the Nursing degree, concern was expressed that a student might be caught in the change and not be able to graduate. Dean Henning stated that no student will be caught by the change. Broadhurst moved to approve the proposal as amended. Templeton seconded. The motion passed.
