The membership Lt the committee consisted aft Charles
Boklage, Frances Daugherty, Herry Ferrell, David Brown, Peggy
Koonce, Joyce Pettis, David Lawerence, Tom Martoccia, Chia-yu Li,
James 0. Smith, and Ruth Katz and JoAnn Bell (Ex Officica). Myra
Cain represented the office of the Vice Chancellor.

The cammittee conducted meetings on the last Wednesday of
the month in September, November, March and April. A special

called meeting was held in January. I see no reason for reporting

those absent from any particular meeting since attendance was

very good the entire year. All meetings which were missed were

because of other University business of a more pressing nature.

The committee has not reported to the Senate in the last
year and received no special instructions from the Senate.

The committee has no sub-committees. We meet as a whole
usually with various members of the Library staff to present
specific information or to answer questions.

The main accomplishments of the committee were:

1. the passing of a resolution requesting the administration to
provide better copy facilities in the library
2. meeting with Aaron Cohen, a consultant, to present cur views

as to the proposed additions to Joyner Library

 
Business carried over included continuing reports concerning
the automation project, the use of multiple copies of certain
books for mass sections and the issue of housekeeping.

The committee seems to function well with the current
structure. Both directors are willing to discuss the issues and
Dr. Katz always provides staff members as a committee resource.
Given the current state of affairs in the libraries the committee
appears to function best as a method of information passing
between the faculty and the administration. The committee

persormel are good and the relationships are harmonious.
