Senate, other than those found in the committee's constitutional

A brief statement of committee organization, subcommittees, research
activities, etc.

A subcommittee was used to handle a small number of appeals needing
prompt attention. Other committee members' opinions were sought
whenever possible. Research was conducted on the TOEFL to assess its
utility in the admissions process. A subcommittee developed a format

for departments coming before the committee seeking to increase their
entering G.P.A.

List committee accomplishments including recommendations made to
agencies other than the Faculty Senate.

Several hundred appeals were heard during 1984-1985.

Policies were adopted re: TOEFL: Continuing Education Admissions;
Departments seeking to raise the required

entering students' GPA; Entrance criteria
for transferring students; Enrollment

 
practices of military personnel.

Proposals and/or business to be carried over to next year:

Impact of raising departmental entrance GPAs above 2.0; Impact of
proposed SDPI graduation requirements for N.C. high school seniors.

Evaluation of committee:
Structure, Duties, Functions: All satisfactory. It should be noted

that the exemplary attendance of committee members during vacation
times speaks for the dedication of the members of the committee.
