Personnel: The Chairman wishes to express his gratitude to the committee's members for their hard work, patience, and assistance. It has been a very real pleasure to work with them. Suggestions for improving the effectiveness of the committee: A. The committee continues to urge that units planning changes be aware of the time required to obtain all approvals necessary for curriculum changes, especially in view of two-year catalogues and early catalogue deadlines. The committee wishes to have all degree changes include the catalogue format in order to better understand.what changes are being made and to facilitate the preparation of the committee's minutes. The committee sees no reason to change its opinion (expressed in Dr. Ryan's report of 1976-1977) that the first year of membership is essentially an orientation period and that written procedures are not an adequate substitution for experience.
