I have approved a motion of the Faculty Senate which
reads:

The Faculty Senate recommends that the unit head
(as defined in Appendix L) shall not cast a vote

in any faculty vote on personnel matters but shall
forward his/her recommendation along with that of
the personnel committee to the next higher admini-
strative official in accordance with the forwarding
procedure in Appendix D.

Because the unit head has a voice in personnel matters at
least equal to that of the unit personnel committee, I
believe that it would be appropriate that you abstain
from voting on personnel actions. This resolution does
not preclude attendance or participation in discussion.
