fee APR 2.0 1984 ee EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY FACULTY SENATE GREENVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA 27834 OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR April 20, 1984 Dr. James L. Smith Faculty Senate East Carolina University Dear Dr. Smith: I approve resolutions 84-12 (radio services), 84-13 (graduation list), 84-14 (revised faculty welfare charge), 84-15 (new definition of general faculty), 84-17 (curriculum revisions), 84-19 (General College Adviser/Advisee Evaluation Survey). I also approve the first part of 84-20; namely, "Smoking shall be prohibited in all ECU classrooms." I will study further the provision that smoking shall be prohibited in meeting rooms. My first reaction to the latter is that the personnel of meetings are so varied that each group might make its own rule on smoking, as the Senate has. I have omitted 84-16 (task force), because it was rescinded by the Senate in a meeting subsequent to yourletter of April 12, and 84-18 (revisions of codes), because my advisory committee has not finished with them. Sincerely, 7.1/7 "* Sear’ 4 a, hz Mf is / MY, eS ov nS ohn M.
