Initiation of Recommendations "Recommendations for appointment, reappointment, ee nonreappointment, promotion, and conferral of permanent tenure shall be made by the department chairperson after consulting with the assembled faculty personnel committee. The department chairperson shall give timely written notice to the faculty personnel committee when such procedures are to be initiated. The faculty personnel committee shall make a written recommenda- tion which shall be given to the department's chairperson. A recommendation from the faculty personnel committee to the chairperson is advisory in nature, both to the chairperson and to his immediate administrative supervisor. OMIT THIS LAST SENTENCE: The chairperson shall forward his recommendation and the recommendation of the faculty personnel committee to his immediate administrative supervisor. and INSERT IN ITS PLACE: The Chairperson shall not participate in the faculty vote on personnel matters but shall forward his/her recommendation along with that of the unit personnel committee to the next higher administrative official.
