No Senate resolutions originated with the Committee. Business continued until next year A. Continue to lobby for faculty development office B. Work on changes in student survey process to make it more useful for ad- ministrative purposes and for individual faculty information. Work on changes in the process for selection teaching excellence award winners. X. Evaluation of Committee A. Structure - worked well B. Duties - seem to have expanded to fill the time freed by the formation of a separate Teaching Grants committee. Committee is concerned mainly with the student survey and the use of the information generated and in faculty development activities. Functions - more of the committee's activities should center on faculty development particularly in the area of teaching and in promoting the recognition of the importance of teaching in the teaching-research - service triad. Personnel - had more difficulty than usual this year finding meeting times when all members could attend. Participation in sub-committee work was excellent and a lot was accomplished. XI. Suggestions: 1. If student members are to serve on the committee in any meaningful fashion, they should be appointed in the spring for the next academic year so that they can attend from the first meeting in the fall. 2. The committee should always have at least one member proficient in statistics and research methods, particularly the survey process.
