A brief statement of committee organization, subcommittees, research activities, etc.: No internal organization, other than the elected officers, was required. List of committee accomplishments including recommendations made to agencies other than the Faculty Senate: This year the committee strove to increase the participation of the universities' schools and departments in our scholarship procedures. In evaluating our accomplishments for the past year, all committee members felt that we had generated greater participation, and more thorough cooperation with our procedures. We instituted the procedure of sending out reminder notices not only in the fall, but also at the beginning of March, when many awards are determined. We felt that this was partly responsible for the much greter response we received. This year, six student athletes were informed that their grants would not be renewed, but none appealed. To date this year, the committee has not had to consider any scholarship appeals. Citation of the numbers of Senate resolutions that originated with the committee. No resolutions were presented to the Faculty Senate this year. Proposals and/or business to be carried over to next year: The committee seemed to function smoothly and efficiently this year. Now that guidelines and procedures have been established reasonably well, no really pressing problems remain. The committee's primary goals for next year will be to continue to increase participation among the schools and departments in notifying us of awards, and to continue to monitor the availability of funds: for student aid.
