None A brief statement of committee organization, subcommittees, research activities, etc.: The committee is formally organized and conducts business using Robert's Rules of Order. Among other activities, the commmittee was charged with consideration of the charges made in various unit codes because of the adoption of Appendix C. In cases where there was a question about a unit code, a representative of the unit was invited to meet with the committee and discuss the changes in their codes. One subcommittee was appointed to draw up a.memorandum to be sent to each unit, explaining to the unit what changes needed to be made on their code in order that it agree with Appendix C. List of committee accomplishments including recommendations made to agencies other than the Faculty Senate: In addition, the committee advised the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures concerning the appropriateness of a unit chair serving as Chair of the Personnel Committee. The committee refused to consider revision of unit codes from Geology and Political Science since these Codes had never received initial approval of the ad hoc Unit Code Screening Committee and the Faculty Senate. Examination of unit codes not approved during 1982-83 term of the committee. 2. Study of the ECU Code relative to the failure of the "revised" ECU Code to receive approval by the ECU Board of Trustees. 3. Seeking a formula for apportionment of faculty senators that will treat more fairly the various professional schools; the committee has observed that the present rule seems to give the departments in Arts and Sciences more than their fair share of senators. Review of the status of faculty members holding joint appointments with respect to service in the Faculty Senate and voting for representatives of the Faculty Senate. Evaluation of the committee: A.
