Evaluations A. Annual evalustions lL. At the end of each academic year, the chairperson shali formulate a evaluation of each faculty member in accordance with the East Caro} University Faculty Mamual, Appendix C III on the basis of evidence in hand for accomplishments in the three categories of teaching, research/cresative activity and service as these are specified in %! Guidelines of the Department. In the evalustion, teaching shall bave a weight of LO, research/ creative ectivity shail have a weight of 40, and service shall have a weight of 20. For members with fixed term appointment, however, tesachive shall nave a weight of 50, and research/creative activity shall have e veight of 50. The evaluation shell not take into account either the number of hours of teaching responsibility, not any special opportunity provided to a faculty member, such as released time for teaching, « the revard of 4 grant. It shall be the responsibility of each faculty member to insure tb appropriate evidence of accomplishments in the three categories named in (1) is in the member's ‘Personnel File for consultation by the chairperson and the Personnel Committee. The chairperson shall inform the Personnel Committee of any and al? annual evaluations before these are sutmitted to the Administratio:. If the Personnel Committee agrees with the unit chairperson's evaluations, it shall so inform the Administration. If the Person: Committee disagrees with the evaluations, end the disagreement cannot be resolved through consultation between the unit chairpersc and the Personnel Committee, the Personnel Committee has the prerogative of submitting to the Administration its own recommen-~ dations, formulated in accord with the Committee's bylaws. B. The Quedrennial Evaluation: (no change) V. Salary A. The unit chairperson shall base any and all recommendations for merit salery increments on the annual evaluation specified in IV.A. B. The unit chairperson shall inform the Personnel Committee of any and a: merit salery increment recommendations before those are submitted to th Administration. If the Pergonnel Committee agrees with the recommen~ dations of the unit chairperson, it shall so inform the Administration. If the Personnel Committee disagrees with the recommendations, and the disagreement cannot be resolved through consultation between the unit chairperson and the Personnel Committee, the Personnel Committee has the prerogative of sutmittins to the Administration its own recommendati: formulated in accord with the Committee's bylews.
