Attachment for Agenda Item 5C: ae COURSE DROP APPEALS COMMITTEE Revised Charge January 7, 1983 1. Name: Course Drop Appeals Committee 2. Membership: 6 faculty members and 1 student member. 3. Quorum: 4 elected faculty members. 4, A. Committee Functions: The Course Drop Appeals Committee is charged with the responsi-~ bility of reviewing the appeals submitted by students who have ten denied permission to drop a course by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The Committee meets when there is an appeal by a student. To Whom Committee Reports: The Committee reports to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. How Often Committee Reports: S The Committee reports to the Faculty Senate as often as necessary, but at least once a year. Power of the Committee to Act: ee —ee The Committee is empowered to make decisions in. student course drop appeals. The Committee on Committees recommends the following motion concerning the Course Drop Appeals Committee: The members of the Course Drop Appeals Committee hereafter shall serve three-year-terms. Since the committee is now made up of six members, all serving two-year terms, three to expire in 1983, three to expire in 1984, the following arrangement will be observed to insure staggered three-year terms in the future: 1) of the three members whose term of office expireg in 1983, the term of one member will be extended one year, 2) of the three members whose term of office expires in 1984, the term of two members will be extended one year, 3) the members who will have their term of office extended will be determined by the Course Drop Appeals Committee by majority vote, and reported to the Committee on Committees by March 4, 1983. ] Attachment for Agenda Item 5C: Recommended changes in committee titles: 1.
