and Textiles (Merchandising and Clothing and Textile Options).

1. Transfer Policy

Page 64 - Current Policy

Students transferring from other colleges who desire to substitute
courses taken elsewhere for courses prescribed at the University
must submit such petition prior to enrollment for their first semester

at the University.

Change To: a

Students transferring from other institutions who desire to substitute
accepted courses taken elsewhere for courses required within a major

at East Carolina University will submit a petition requesting the
substitution, to the dean or department chairperson of the academic
unit offering the degree. If the petition is approved by the student's
academic advisor, and if it is approved by the dean or department
chairperson, it will be placed in the student's folder and transmitted

to the Office of the Registrar.
II. Recommended change in the Faculty Manual:
Page 43 - Current Policy

Although tests are not required at specific times during the semester,
some measure of a student's progress should be made before the middle
of the semester. '

Change to:

Where practical, some indication should be given to the student of her/
his standing in the course before the thirtieth day of the semester
(i0th day of the summer session).

 
Agenda Item 5Ab:

The University Curriculum Committee amended and approved the following
recommendation from the Deans and Directors:

1. Student must complete a minumum of 30 semester hours including the
final semester work at this University.

2. In all course work attempted for the first degree as well as for the
second degree, the student must have an overall average which meets
the requirements for the degree with distinction. The level of
distinction on the second degree can be no higher than allowed by
the GPA on the work toward the second degree.

3. Stucet must meet all other scholastic requirements for a second
degree as listed in this catalogue.
