MINUTES March 22, 1982 The University Curriculum Committee met on March 22, 1982, in Brewster B-103 at 3:00 p.m. Members present: Boyce, Grossnickle, Broadhurst, Daugherty, Hancock, Holt, Leahy, Moore, O'Rear, Topper. Members absent were Cain (ex : officio), and student member Harris. The minutes of February 22, 1982, were approved. Professor J. Robert Weber, Department of Social Work and Correctional Services, School of Allied Health requested a reduction in semester hours from 4 to 3 for CorS 3000. He asked to delete CorS 3004 and add new course, CorS 3007, Methods of Legal Investigation. On the new course proposal for CorS 3007, I.F. delete last sentence; I.H. delete pp. 278, 280. Professor Weber requested an increase in semester hours from 2 to 3 for SocW 2000 and a decrease in semester hour credit from 4 to 3 for SocW 3002. He presented the new course proposal, SocW 5009, 5010, Human Service Information Management. The new course proposal should be changed as follows: I.E. Prerequisites: CSCI 3600 to DSCI 2223... The proposed changes effects the B.S. major and minor in Correctional Services (see attached), and BS major in Social Work and BA/BS minor in Social Welfare. Professor Moore moved to accept the changes as amended, Hamilton seconded, and the motion passed. Professor R. Wendling, Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Safety presented new course proposal, PRC 2190, 2191, 2192, Work Experience Through Community/Commercial/Recreation Agencies. Item I. G. add p. 191. PRC 2390, 2391, 2392, Work Experience Through Resource Management Agencies was presented. Item I.G. add p. 181. PRC 4700, 4701, 4702, Independent Study in Recreation was presented. Item I.E. changed to read, Junior status and approval ... Item 1.G. add page 181. PRC 4600 was deleted. Catalogue copy of page 181 which reflects the proposed changes is attached. Professor Hancock moved to accept the changes as amended, Boyce seconded, and the motion passed. Professor E. Hooks, Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Safety, P. Benzing, School of Allied Health and Social Professions, J. Mitchell, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, presented the new course proposal, HPRO, HOME, PSYC, SOCI 2400, Introduction to Gerontology. This course will be double-iisted among the various cooperating units. Professor Hooks stated the chairman of the Gerontology Committee will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating the administration process relative to offering this course. Professor Hamilton moved to accept the course, Professor Hancock seconded, and the motion passed. Professor R. Creech, Department of Mathematics presented MATH 2283, Statistics for Business. On the course proposal, item I.E., add or equivalent and item I.A. should include the statement (fore, ECON 2283 and DSCI 2283) On item I.H. add page 331. A proposal for a B.S. minor in Mathematics was presented. Professor Daugherty moved to accept the math proposals as amended, and to substitute Math 2283 for DSCI (Econ) 2283 wherever it appears in the catalogue. This changes the BSBA majors and minors.
