UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES February 22, 1982 The University Curriculum Committee met on February 22, 1982, in Brewster B-103 at 3:00 p.m. Members present: Boyce, Grossnickle, Broadhurst, Daugherty, Hancock, Holt, Moore, O'Rear, Topper and student member G. Harris. Members absent were: Cain (ex officio) and Hamilton. Leahy was also present. The minutes of February 8, 1982, were corrected as follows: page 2, HIST 4940, last sentence under prerequisites should be deleted and replaced by, "This course will not be acceptable for meeting history major or minor electives requirements above 2999." Chairman Grossnickle announced that as of this meeting a complete set of minutes will be mailed to each unit head. It is the responsibility of the unit head to read the minutes carefully and report any corrections to the Chair or Secretary. Professors Sowell and J. Wirth, Department of Mathematics presented the new course proposal MATH 5265, 5266, Microcomputers in Secondary Education. Professor Daugherty moved to accept the . proposal, Harris seconded and the motion passed. Professor E. Chestang and Professor Charles Ziehr, Department of Geography and Planning, presented a proposal for a change of name for a geography concentration. On page 162, the Undergraduate Catalogue is changed to read, "Specialized Concentrations Within Geography Major; I. Locational Analysis thy and Area Development. A new course proposal was presented, GEOG 5020, Spatial Efficiency Analysis. Professor Chestang also requested that GEOG 3003, Political Geography be raised from a 2 s.h. course to a 3 s.h. course. On the revised course proposal for GEOG 3003, item H., strike P. 161; p. 163. Professor Boyce moved to approve the various proposals, as amended, from Geography. Professor Leahy seconded, and the motion passed. Professor Geneva Yadav, School of Home Economics, requested to add CHEM 1121, Basic General and Organic Chemistry Lab (1 s.h.) to the options in Clothing and Textiles. This change would allow the merchandising option to have 7 s.h. of free electives and the Clothing and Textiles option would have 11 s.h. of free electives. Item #3 on the catalogue copy should include an asterisk for SPCH 2002 or 2080 or 3004 and PSYC 3221 or SOCI 2110.
