Dear Caroline:

This is to confirm the Board of Trustees action regarding Appendix C:
Personnel Policy and Procedure for the Faculty of East Carolina University
which was approved by the Board of Trustees on June 14, 1982.

We are preparing the document for printing. I hope that we can arrange

to have the evaluations of teaching and administrative evaluations administered
by Institutional Research next fall.

In approving it, the Board of Trustees directed that Dr. Laupus' title
be corrected to reflect changes since the draft was passed by the Senate and
added the words at the end of the "amendment procedure" to make express the

role of the Trustees. I do not believe there can be any objection to either

change for we have all assumed that the document or its future amendments
would have to be approved by the Trustees.
