UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES » November 30, 1981 The University Curriculum Committee met on November 30, 1981, in Brewster B-103 at 3:00 p.m. Members present: Grossnickle, Boyce, Broadhurst, Cain, Daugherty, Hancock, Holt, Moore, Leahy, O'Rear, and Topper. Members absent: Chancellor Brewer and Johnson (ex officio). The Chair noted that the crosslisting of HSEM 2070, Psychology, would change both the BA Major and the BA/BS minors in Psychology. This was deleted from the previous minutes of November 23, 1981. Professor Louis Zincone, School of Business, presented the new course ptoposal, DSCI 3243, Managerial Economics. Professor Daugherty moved to accept the course, Moore seconded, and the motion passed. Professor John Maiolo, Department of Sociology and Anthropology ,presented a new course proposal, ECON 3243, Intermediate Microeconomics. In the proposal, item III, A.2. This course is required in the above minor. Professor Boyce moved to accept the proposal, Hancock seconded, and the motion passed. Professor T. Yarbrough, Department of Political Science, requested that POLS 2104, Civil Liberties, be changed to POLS 3224. Professor Cain moved to accept the new course proposal. Boyce seconded, and the motion passed. Professor Donald Collins, Department of Library Science, presented LIBS 3102, Research Sources and Techniques. Professor Boyce moved approval, Daugherty seconded and the motion passed. Professor O'Rear presented a number of requests from the Department of Biology. BIOL 2120, Human Physiology and Anatomy, changed to BIOL 2130, Survey of Human Physiology and Anatomy. This change affects the 1981-82 Undergraduate Catalogue on the following pages: 180,181, 274, 275, 276, 355 and 403. BIOL 2121, Human Physiology and Anatomy Laboratory was requested to be changed to BIOL - 2131, Survey of Human Physiology and Anatomy Laboratory. Two new course proposals ‘were presented, BIOL 2140, 2150, Human Physiology and Anatomy; BIOL 2141, 2151 Human Physiology.and Anatomy Laboratory. The course proposal for BIOL 2140, item I.E. should read, "prerequisite for BIOL 2150. The course proposal for BIOL 2141 for item I.E. should read: "prerequisite for BIOL 2151. Professor Holt moved to accept the changes, Broadhurst seconded, and the motion passed. — ; “Professors Martin Schwarz and Luis Acevez, Department of Foreign - Languages and Literature, presented the following proposals: A change in level -for French, German, and Spanish 2005 to FREN 3005, GERM 3005, and SPAN 3005. They Presented a new course proposal for LATIN 2221, Latin and Greek in Current English Usage. Professor Grossnickle moved to accept the request that FREN, GERM, SPAN 2005 be raised to FREN, GERM,-SPAN 3005. Boyce seconded and the motion passed. Professor E. Perry, School of Nursing, presented the revised proposal for the B.S, in Nursing degree which includes changes in CHEM requirements, “ deletion of BIOL 2120, 2121; BIOL 2140, 2141, 2150, 2151 added as degree require- ments; and the minimum degree requirements increased from 128 s.h. to 131 s-h. The discussion and vote of the Committee was held in abeyance until a represen- tation of Chemistry arrived. Hs Professor Robert Holt, Department of Philosophy, presented a number of changes in the PHIL curriculum. Course numbers changed PHIL 2310 to 3310; 2330 to 3330; 5250 to 4250; 5260 to 4260; 5271 to 4271. These course numbers and title changes as follows: PHIL 2320 to PHIL 3320, Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy; PHIL 2340 to PHIL 3340, Twentieth Century Analytic Philosophy; PHIL 3452 to PHIL 3453, Existentialism/Phenomenology; PHIL 5281, to PHIL 5283, Philosophy of Language. The requirements for the major in Philosophy requested to be changed: Requirements in Philosophy: 33 semester hours as follows: A. 3s.h. from 1500, 3580. B. 9 s.h. from 3310, 3320, 3330, 3340, 3453.
