"That the Faculty Senate Office conduct a survey
of all teaching faculty to assess faculty opinion
about the uses and the purposes of student opinion
surveys of the faculty at East Carolina University
and that the Faculty Senate Office report the
results of the said survey to the members of the
Faculty Senate no later than the Faculty Senate
meeting on December 8, 1981." and,

"That a questionnaire devised by the Committee for
Teaching Effectiveness and approved by the Faculty
Senate be used to conduct a survey of the teaching
faculty about the uses and the purposes of student
opinion surveys of the faculty at East Carolina
University."

The following motion presented for your information does not require
approval:

81-53 Amendment to the revised charge of the Committee
for Teaching Effectiveness which changed the member-
ship from nine to ten elected faculty persons.

Enclosed is a copy of the Faculty Senate minutes of October 20, 1981,
meeting, which will be approved at the November 17, 1981, session.
