Dear Chancellor Brewer:

The following resolution was approved by the Faculty Senate at its
September 22, 1981, meeting. The Senate also requested that you
forward a copy to each member of the East Carolina University

Board of Trustees and to President Friday.

Be it resolved that the Faculty Senate of East Carolina
University hereby:

(1) commends Chancellor Thomas B. Brewer for his
many efforts and accomplishments in fostering
qualitative growth at East Carolina University
during the past three years;

(2) endorses the Planning Process that has been so
long underway at this University and into which
so many deliberative hours have been put by
faculty members and administrative officers;
and
requests of President Friday and the members of
the Board of Trustees that, following the precedent
set in 1977, the Faculty Senate be granted the
option of nominating faculty members to serve on
the search committee in order to facilitate the
cooperative working out of guidelines consistent
with the qualitative growth that has been achieved
to date.
