MINUTES UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE April 2, 1981 The University Curriculum Committee met on Apvil .2, 1981, in Brewster B-103 at 3:00 p.m. Members present: Grossnickle, Hancock, Daugherty, Foley, Broadhurst, Moore, Leahy. Members absent: Boyce, Richards, Hamilton, Holt and Cain. The minutes of March 19, 1981, were approved as corrected: on the second page of the minutes, MGMT is inserted before 4262, and "Grossnickle moved, Daugherty seconded and the motion passed." The chairman read letters he had received from the Schools of Home Economics and Technology concerning coordination with the Art Department for Art 2400 and 2401. Professor Daugherty moved that the conditional approval be removed since these courses have now been coordinated with all the areas involved. Professor Moore seconded. The motion passed. Professor Gregory Ross of the Philosophy Department presented a report to the committee on PHIL 3521. This course was passed in 1980 with the condition that he return at a later time. He stated that the course had the flexibility anticipated and had worked very well. The students who take this course are proctors for a freshman PSI course. The level of proctoring has improved and a proctor guide is being developed. Professor Daugherty moved that the conditional approval be removed. Professor Foley seconded and the motion passed. Professor Richard Mauger of the Geology Department presented GEOL 4000 and the change it would make in the B.S. Degree in Geology. The approval of GEOL 4000 would replace the approved field camp statement. Professor Moore moved to approve GEOL 4000 and the change. Broadhurst seconded. The motion passed. Professor William Durham, Department of Business Education and Office Administration presented the request for a sequence of name changes in the catalogue. All Distributive Education names change to Marketing and Dis- tributive Education. Professor Broadhurst moved that the change be approved. Hancock seconded. The motion passed. The committee discussed the annual report and the feasibility of having a committee member meet with accrediting teams when they are on campus. The Committee adjourned at 4:20 p.m. Stella Daugherty Acting Secretary DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY GEOL 4000 Summer Field Course in Geology (6) (SS1) Students will be full-time each week for the entire six (6) week session. Prerequisites: Physical Geology, Mineralogy, Petrology, Structural Geology. Stratigraphy, structure, geomorphology, and economic deposits of SW and central New Mexico and southern Colorado will be emphasized through basic mapping on topographic and photo bases. The mapping exercises will involve a wide variety of geologic features in areas of excellent exposures, ranging from complexly faulted Mexozoic and Cenozoic rocks to isoclinally folded Precambrian rocks.
